If you could play Michigan AD for a day what would be the one thing you would change or try to accomplish in that day?
Peppers at 10, which seems low.
The Mexican Hat Dance at every game.
If you wear the shades.
I would disband each and every athletic program.
You really need to go.
It was funny.
Perhaps he should only disband the teams that have a winning record against his school. I think he should research that and get back to us with the list.
Do you anticipate your criteria will show much difference between the lists?
I'm a homer, so I don't. But I also appreciate busywork, so I look forward to the results of the study.
That was the point. I think they've got us historically in track and field, though.
No this was the first year they have beat us in indoor track since 1993 and I am guessing that outdoor is not that much different. Isn't michigan track a pretty good program anyways.
Which is what saves us in football, but remember, they had Jesse Owens back in the day. I believe their all-time record against M in track is better. But I'm too lazy to look it up. That is what pogue needs to do.
every sports plays only night games inside the big house....football, tennis, swimming, badmitten, curling....whatever they have under the lights with 100,000 people there
place by scheduling all night games.
Minute I'm AD, I'm using my first paycheck as a downpayment on a used C&C 36, outfitting it with the best sails I can afford, then taking the next three weeks to sail the Eastern Coastline. If Les Miles calls, tell him I'll call him back when I get home.
immediately terminate contact with adidas and forge new one with Nike
I would cancel our contract with Adidas for women's sports and replace it with Victoria's Secret.
Insert softball joke here.
I think we should all throw our support behind this visionary and make this happen.
Also, I would attempt to get the Men's Lacrosse team to full varsity status, with scholarships to offer and whatnot.
Spend all day painting over the back-stripes on the road uniforms.
Provide maize shirts for all season ticket holders (price included with ticket) and make sure everyone knows that you WEAR MAIZE to the games.
Secondly, I'd add rugby and lacrosse, both men's and women's, as varsity sports.
where's the night game guy
Drawing up plans for moving the campus north of the arctic circle, so it will be night for a whole month. Then EVERYTHING will be AWESOME and full of WIN!
Paint the field Blue...ah, wait...check that.
but then some MSU students came in and harvested it.
losing to OSU every year.
But in all seriousness, I would go back to Nike, (imo) their product is superior to adidas.
Do you realize that Nike and Adidas outsource to literally the same Chinese suppliers to manufacture their shoes? The same Chinese sweatshop laborers are stitching the shoes for both brands. Any "difference" in quality is in your imagination.
The Adidas deal is better for us for the simple fact that they pay more than twice what Nike was paying. Way more money for the same product = a good deal.
Schedule home and away with a major BCS team (not for this season though). Make lacrosse a varsity sport would be good too.
that simply says "Jim Carty Sucks ~ The Michigan AD".
I'd start by scraping those ugly winged helmets.
I'd be working on a game plan to replace Crisler.
I'd require the football coach to offer five scholarships a year to West Michigan prospects (with priority given to those who blog).
I would ignore the obvious safety and logistical nightmares and have a second level built on the stadium.
Capacity: 200,000. Let's see anyone else try to match that.
Also, disband the lame-o marching band and hire Puddle of Mudd to jam hard during the games. Just picture this: night game, lights shining down on the field, Tate goes in for a score in his all-maize uniform, 200,000 fans screaming and cheering while Puddle of Mudd cranks out the Victors.
as RB coach. That way, when we score a rushing TD, they can play "He fucking hate me, la la la la, You tried to stop us, but we tore your feelings, like you had none, and ripped them away"
i would give serious consideration to having a neutral site game somewhere every few seasons. think texas and oklahoma, or illinois and mizzou. a big 12 opponent would be feasible. Maddddddd revenue would be pulled in. Fans would go flocking. Strength of schedule would increase. I'm finding it hard to come up with a flaw.
For us, the flaw would be that whatever stadium we played in would be smaller than the one we play in already. This is not a deal breaker, but no matter what the attendance will be lower.
This is true.
We could play in Korea.
Talk about neutral site!
i know...i know. but wouldn't it be at least feasible for it to happen once every 4 years? That way every student would be able to experience it at least once. attendance would drop, sure, but national exposure would shoot sky high. college gameday would definitely be there, recruits would love it, and it might be able to generate enough revenue that michigan would still end up in the green. As long as they don't overdo it.
The thing you're missing is that all current neutral-site rivalries are played between two schools in the same geographical region. Who in our region is worth playing that we don't already face? Pittsburgh? Louisville? It's slim pickings.
