No I’m not mesugah. I grew up in a time and place where you rooted for whoever was dominant in the sport you liked; in my case it was basketball (insert Georgetown starter jacket here).
I could give two flips about football...until I moved to Ann Arbor. I forget what year it was...but Michigan beat Michigan State (put any given year here)..This is when I chose a side...Michigan! Yes, at this point I was a bandwagon fan...even went to Steve and Barry’s and bought a sweatshirt.
As time went on I found myself becoming more and more emotionally invested in the football team...hell...it was easy...we were winning. Then App state happened...this horrific embarrassment of epic proportions...at this point...my first Michigan sweatshirt is in tatters and I look like a bag man...even the holes have holes. Then the 3-9 season happened...rock bottom!
I recently wore my sweatshirt to the supermarket...and this guy walks by and says three and nine! I looked at him and just shook my head in disgust...This guy had no idea what it meant to be a fan...and at that point....I did. Its my team and I take the good, the bad and the ugly!
I have never been to a Michigan Football game, my occupation keeps me busy on football Saturday. So...when you guys go to the game...if you can yell just a little bit louder..for me..I would appreciate it.
Thanks
