this guy evidently hired to work for AD
"I haven't been thinking about or planning anything as far as the next DC goes". (Paraphrasing, of course) RR about the DC search.
He may very well ditch the 3-3-5 at some point, but unless he can't get the coach or players for it, it'll sit in the closet for a while.
than a base defense philosophy with Shafer.
From that Bacon interview, it is clear that RR is not married to the 3-3-5, but that the conflict with Shafer was something else. Of the staff, SHafer and Jackson were the only ones unfamiliar to RR, and I think it just didn't work out personality-wise.
with campbell and martin for the next 3-4 years it wouldn't really make sense to only have one defensive tackle on the field at a time
but I think there's a link somewhere here on a recent post where RR gave an interview and said he wanted to go with a 4-3 base.
(I didn't actually listen but I think some of the posts referenced it. If I'm wrong I'm sure I'll get slammed.)
