Ace: Chris Wormley Named No. 1 Ohio Prospect by Bucknuts
The article is paywalled, but the information is very much in the header: Yes, an Ohio site just named a Wolverine commit as their top in-state prospect.
Attempted jinx? You decide, but congratulations to Chris Wormley.

Wow. Did not expect that. Good accolades for him, and may he have a fruitful career at UM.
Where was Kalis by the way?
August 23rd, 2011 at 9:51 PM ^
No. 2 - sure TSIO fans really love that list.
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:02 PM ^
Sweet. Hope we can keep it up in OH for years to come.
Oh, and by the way Ace, since we no long longer have the pos-bang, I think you should petition Brian for an immediate MGoPoint bonus. I feel like our Recruiting Ninja should at least have more points than a middle schooler who pops in every few weeks.
To those middle schoolers who pop in every few weeks, I still like you. As long as you go to UM, and especially if you are a 5 star football recruit and will go to UM.

I'm sure he'll get around to it. Luckily, I can still start threads, post diaries, post (er...) posts, delete stuff -- it's all good.
August 23rd, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
Ace, you need an avatar stat!
GO BLUE!
August 23rd, 2011 at 11:45 PM ^
Agreed.
Ace, since your first listed, favorite Wolverine is Charles Woodson, I nominate this as your avatar.
I believe this avatar would pretty much sum it up...
August 24th, 2011 at 1:51 AM ^
... given his name is Ace, I would go with someone who wore the 1 jersey. Specifcally A.C.
August 24th, 2011 at 5:12 AM ^
That would make sense IF he had listed A.C. as one of his favorite players.
Context man, context...
Besides, A.C. is the King of Hearts:

I want a deck NOW. Where should I go to get them? Thx.
August 24th, 2011 at 9:53 AM ^
I got mine on eBay. Here's a link to someone selling them...

Ace has more points than me, and I'm 40! (But perhaps I'm a 40 year old 8th grader).
Agree, though. Our in-house recruiting guru needs more street cred and an instant bump-up. Can we donate MGoPoints in a similar fashion as airline frequent flyer miles? But just like frequent flyer miles, MGoPoints don't get you much in life. Unless, of course, you want to fly to an unpopular destination (I hear Bolivia is lovely at this time of year).
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:41 PM ^
You're not an 8th grader, you're a man!
August 23rd, 2011 at 11:31 PM ^
I feel better now, Coach Gundy. Thanks for filling my bucket.
August 23rd, 2011 at 11:39 PM ^
as long as you drive a Dodge Stratus no one can touch you.
August 24th, 2011 at 7:28 AM ^
as long as his next post includes the words "Hello Danny".
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:09 PM ^
Agreed, if Brian can take away millions of points (even temporarily) he can add them in deserving situations.
August 24th, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
But then you have to deal with inflation, which means OUR points aren't worth as much. You can't just create mgopoints, man.
August 24th, 2011 at 12:05 AM ^
Pos-bang?
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:00 PM ^
do it in caps, too.
August 24th, 2011 at 8:54 AM ^
I am sure its just my simple mind, but how did tOSU morph to TSIO?
August 24th, 2011 at 9:33 AM ^
Not sure if serious, but TSIO = That School in Ohio.
August 23rd, 2011 at 9:51 PM ^
I feel like you should post with "ACE: ..." where ... is the post title. Just so people know its you. Or don't if thats not your thing, but I would have clicked in 5 seconds instead of like 8 if I knew you posted it.
August 23rd, 2011 at 9:52 PM ^
You're kind of a big deal now.
August 23rd, 2011 at 9:53 PM ^
/fixed
I'll do my best to remember to do that in the future. Thanks.

In Bucknuts last rankings, wasn't he like #73 in the state behind two long snappers and an equipment manager?
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:01 PM ^
Can't see those now, but 247Sports really likes him as a prospect, too: Got him as the No. 56 player overall. Pretty sure that's his highest ranking by a relatively wide margin.
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:35 PM ^
It was Scouting Ohio (using input from Kurelic and Duane Long) that published the rankings that were... um.. less than favorable to anyone with more than a passing interest in Michigan:
http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/revised-scouting-ohio-2012-player-rankings
Wormley was #10 in Ohio, Kalis was #12 (!), and Jarrod Wilson was #28 (!?)
August 23rd, 2011 at 9:53 PM ^
Might I suggest adding Ace: to your post titles?
After all... you are that dude now.
EDIT: Late, I'm always late.
August 24th, 2011 at 9:43 AM ^
early, if you know what I mean...
August 23rd, 2011 at 9:53 PM ^
My highschool classmate and longtime friend Dave Biddle a staff writer for Bucknuts, sent me the news today about Wormley and Kalis. This is his one attempt to prove to me that he is in fact not a homer. Still not buying it.
August 23rd, 2011 at 9:56 PM ^
EDIT: Obviously late on asking you to add your name to the title, sooo...
Thanks, Ace. It's surprising enough that they named a Michigan player #1, but even more surprising is that it's not Kalis.
Looking forward to more good updates from you

Did I miss a Hello: Chris Wormley post? Seriously, did he commit to us already or is it just expected?
August 23rd, 2011 at 9:59 PM ^
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:02 PM ^
The thing about Wormley is that his ceiling is basically unlimited with his size and athletic ability. He had a monster sophomore year and was all-state or something, and then back-slid in his junior year. So jury is still a little out on his productivity, but you can't get much better in the measurables, and has flexibility to play multiple positions.
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:04 PM ^
C'mon, Freddie, you're making me look bad!
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:09 PM ^
I'm just reeaaallllyy bored tonight and have nothing else to do except obsessively check MGoBlog.
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:17 PM ^
It's a Tuesday night in August. I think you get a pass.
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:03 PM ^
He did play hurt as a junior after a huge sophomore year, so they must think that the injury hurt his production instead of him leveling off as a prospect. We'll see pretty soon whether or not that's the case.
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:10 PM ^
Am I missing something or did he not have 12 sacks last year? I am not certain but I believe I read that somewhere. Wormley has the frame to grow into a more athletic Alan Branch./fredjackson'd
August 24th, 2011 at 7:28 AM ^
he was like a cross between a more powerful Ndamukong Suh and a quicker Jevon Kearse.
August 24th, 2011 at 7:32 AM ^
Mr. Jackson.
August 23rd, 2011 at 11:09 PM ^
I remember hearing he won some defensive award over his OSU commit teammate (was it Miller or Hayes?) despite being a year below him, and injured. Either way, it's not like his junior year was a total flop so I'm surprised some of the sites were so down on him.
Anyway, he's gonna be a monster and we will win all games he plays in.
August 23rd, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
Yeah he was named the district player of the year award over kenny hayes last year and as someone who played against him i would say he was definitely the best player on the field even if he was playing with an injury. My best friend was the offensive tackle who had to attempt to block him and he had no chance even though he was named first team all conference in our league so yeah he's the real deal
August 23rd, 2011 at 11:34 PM ^
Yes, thank you. Dude's gonne Fuck.Shit.Up and there's no two ways about it. Losing Martin and RVB will suck, but throwing Wormley and Pipkins on the field in their place might be just fine.

this makes me happy! and by happy I mean, that I'm jumping up and down like a 4-year old on X-mas morning ....
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:03 PM ^
Maybe he's ripping it up during scrimmages recently and back to what people thought of him as a sophomore.
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:06 PM ^
FWIW: anyone that has a slow friday night ahead of them, Wormley and the Whitmer Panthers will be playing Start and you can listen to them online @ http://www.wrscradio.com.
My buddy is the voice of the Panthers and he is actually a pretty good listen. i think I might actually head over to the game. Probably won't shoot any footage but I can give a little feedback on my thoughts. Start usually has a decent team and they usually come out pass happy in a spread formation so I wouldn't be suprised to hear wormlry having a sack or two. figured I would give a little background on the game.
August 23rd, 2011 at 10:13 PM ^
If you do decide to go to the game, and shoot some film (pretty please?), definitely get in contact with me. aceanbender [at] gmail [dot] com.
If anybody else would like to help do my job for me, you're more than welcome to as well.
(Just for the record, I will be filming at the Cass/FHH game this weekend, so I will not be sitting back and laughing as the MGoCommunity picks up the slack. Well, not much, at least.)
