My stance on helmet stickers has been for the idea, but against the execution. None of the stickers from Bo's era were particularly great, and we're not even using the best design from that era (which would be 75-82).
There are a couple of problems with the current stickers.
- They are too big (even though they appear to be smaller this year).
- A football on a football helmet is redundant.
The easy fix to both problems would be removing the football shape altogether. Viola.
Just for fun, Craig Barker from the Hoover Street Rag asked me to do a mock-up with the Wolverbear.
Obviously, Harbaugh likes the Bo stickers, so I'm not holding my breath for a change any time soon. It's fun to see what different designs look like.
They're wearing these on Saturday against Maryland. Yikes.
Let's hope we don't deal with this next year with Nike.
So OregoNike Almagomated has gone one step beyond anything else in terms of uniformz. Oregon is unveiling new "Oregon Trail" uniforms featuring Lewis, Clark, and the Oregon Duck on the helmets. Two thoughts:
1) I'm surprised inthe current social climate that Oregon consented to guns being on the helmet, especially since Lewis & Clark weren't exactly known as trailblazing rilfemen. EDIT: I guess that's a spyglass, not a rifle??
2) Whenever I see "Oregon Trail" I always go back to the #1 lesson I learned from it, reinforced from my prior job where I worked with a super smart dude of Creek heritage: ALWAYS PAY THE INDIAN.
More uniformz sacrilege coming your way because apparently everything that ever existed must be destroyed by 21st century creative marketing grads. The mary jane leaves become all the more relevant and appropriate. "So many bong hits man, I blacked out..."
