FWIW. Michigan doesn't seem inclined to get re-involved.
With just under 13 minutes left in the second half, Soony Saad, off a beautiful give and go in the box, scored. #3 seed Michigan holds on to win 1-0 and will face #1 Indiana or #4 Penn State in the Big Ten Championship Game, Sunday at noon, live on the Big Ten Network.
EDIT: Penn State knocked off Indiana 2-1 to advance to meet Michigan Sunday
On this day of much rejoicing over our football team, I thought a brief mention of our other football team (the kind with the using of the feet) would be in order. Michigan caps its regular season with a 4-2 win over Northwestern, bringing the season record to 11-4-3 (4-2-0).
The thing that really stands out tonight, though, is the play of freshman Soony Saad. Netting his 15th goal of the season, Saad now holds the all-time single-season Michigan goals record, scoring at just under a rate of a goal per game. If Michigan soccer climbs towards the top of the Big Ten in the coming years, it will be behind the thunderous foot of Soony Saad.
