"The University of Illinois is also in turmoil. The university sports an Interim Chancellor, an Interim Athletic Director, and an Interim Football Coach; the game will be played at Soldier Field, making this an Illini Interim Home Game."
I'm curious if the Player Development Center (PDC) is completed and fully operational. Last I heard, they were using the offices, locker rooms, and I think the weight room and treatment areas, but the new gym area had problems with the floor that delayed things. Is that all done yet?
I also was curious about where they put visiting teams for locker facilities. Is something built in to the PDC, or do they just put visitors in the same visitor's locker facilities they used at Crisler previously? Are they doing anything with the old home locker room, now that the team has moved their locker facilities to the PDC? Where do they do postgame pressers, etc.?
John Beilein has his own website (www.johnbeilein.com.) There is another video tour of the Player Development Center, with Travis Conlan. Link: http://johnbeilein.com/site/?cat=24. What a beautiful facility. I'm sure the players are ecstatic about starting there, and having McGary, Robinson, and Stauskas join them next Fall. The future looks great, and only getting better!
Michigan Stadium Aerials has up new photos of the Basketball Player Development Center . . . http://www.michiganstadiumaerials.com/construction-updates.html. It would be awesome to have the PDC open and have McGary commit the same day.
The exterior of the PDC certainly looks very nice, but I'm especially looking forward to it opening up. I'm assuming they will be using it for practice from October 16 forward, and that they might open the center a day or three before that.
EDIT: Subject has been spelled out in full. For any who are unclear, this is the name given to the new basketball practice facility adjacent to Crisler Arena.
The player development center is due to open within a month. Is there a "grand opening" date set? Will it be open to the public?
I would have to assume that work is nearing completion, but not being in AA, I haven't heard or seen anything lately. It seems that unlike the suites in MIchigan Stadium and the new scoreboards, there hasn't been a whole lot of publicity and pics out there. I know the team did see Crisler's first phase of renovations a couple weeks ago, and are using Crisler once again. Any info. or pics on the PDC would be great.
This morning, Michigan Stadium Aerials (www.michiganstadiumaerials.com) had updated pics of both the football scoreboard and the Player Development Center (PDC.) Short of being in AA, this has consistently been the best internetz source of high res, beautiful photos showing what is going on. The link is http://www.michiganstadiumaerials.com/construction-updates.html. They seem to be posting pics about once a week, and while there is no commentary, you can see more detail, plus get an aerial view, showing the entire football and basketball campus.
