We all saw how ND adjusted both offensively and defensively to our game plan.
1. WRs bubbles and screens stopped working right away
2. ND gave up on running the ball and concentrated on short passes with occasional long ones when an unexperienced DB was involved.
I could not think of any adjustement on the defensive or offensive side of the ball that we made during the game. Can you think of one adjustment we made during the game?
What does this tell you about our coaching philosphy? Borges was accused of running into an 8-man box with no adjustment being made and we saw the same thing from Nuss. Is this due to Hoke's influence?
I was curious if anyone else, especially those that went to the game, noticed the numerous plays where there were whistles being blown from the crowd? I noticed it first on a the kickoff return following ND's FG, and there was the play where the penalty was waived. WTF?!?
I am not making excuses for the loss, but it infuriated me to no end, and I felt like the refs had to have heard it, and should have started giving 15 yard penalties.Could there be any greater douche baggery than pulling that crap?
It is great to win this game but we could have open up the game when Crist was out in the first half. But give credit to ND's special team. Their punts were terrific (most within 20 yard line, a couple within 10 yard line) and made a tough start point for our offense. Of course another reason for lacking of points in 2nd Q is way too many drive-killing penalties.
This special team is really getting me worried. RS frosh and true frosh serving kicking and punting could really be a big problem when we are in another close game.
