well that's just, like, your opinion, man
Was in a meeting this morning with a guy who is apparently a pretty good friend of a veteran MAC football official. They've talked the past few weeks, and it seems the MAC has given its officials a bulletin specifically on the Bolden vs. MSU targeting call, to the effect of, "Guys, that's not how we call it."
So there's that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Obviously we need to do something so Brian eats the lemon he promised to eat. Thoughts?
My ideas so far:
- Set up recurring Amazon shipments of lemons in bulk to Underground Printing until Brian eats one.
- Have UP make 100 t-shirts with the image below on them if Brian doesn't eat a lemon by, say, the start of conference play.
Tom Dienhart at the BTN recently posted a Q&A with Mattison. I don't like Dienhart, but I am starved for football talk. Relevant points:
- Defensive line are all participating and working hard this summer. Especially Will Campbell.
- Beyer and Bolden might have an impact.
- The LBs need the most improvement.
- Kovacs is Kovacs.
- We might see more defensive audibles this year.
Nothing earth-shattering by any stretch. But it is recent talk from our DC and it reminds me of how far we progressed last year.
A little mental distraction from the impending Lions game. UM obviously has 4 stud linebackers in this class. Anyone know where specifically these guys project? I know Ross was told he will play weakside. It looks like Bolden and RJS are more of the MLB type (Or maybe weakside in the 4-3 under). Then what about Ringer? Does anyone project to Sam?
A huge thanks to Josh (aka MaizeNBlueJ) for compiling these highlights of 2012 commit Joe Bolden from the Under Armour All-America Game. Bolden, as you can see, was pretty much everywhere on the field, and though he had some issues corraling players to the ground (not normally an issue for him—his tackling earned high praise in high school and at the UA practices), his ability to diagnose plays appears to be quite strong:
Bolden, who was named a captain for the game, had seven tackles and was named as the Under Armour Game week's "Best Tackler" by Rivals ($).
The Under Armour game and highlights are up at mgovideo, but let's face it, there was only one highlight for Michigan fans.
Keep in mind that this was the state of Jake Ryan's almost negative flow coming out of high school.
Projecting high school kids to the next level is an inexact science, but with Mattison coaching him up and Ryan there to mentor him, Bolden looks like a high flow ceiling kid.
