Watching the Tigers, drinking a few Oberons, and researching our next National Park trip.
What's your favorite National Park? Least favorite? Just read this 538 interesting article on how the NPS has never been more popular: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-national-parks-have-never-been-more-popular/
Like many, I have a goal to hit all 58 National Parks. My stretch goal is to accomplish that by the time I turn 40 (10 years... god, I'm getting old). But, Alaska and Hawaii will make that tough.
I'm new to the NP-craze and I've hit some of the big ones, but not many: Smoky Mtn, Arches, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Everglades, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Rocky Mtn, Grand Canyon most recently. Just 49 to go! Hoping to hit California this fall for a few; maybe Cuyahoga since it's so close.
My favorite was easily Zion. I'm a water guy, in general, and hiking the narrows was so fun. Angel's Landing was fun despite my relative fear of heights. I'll definitely go back. I barely remember much of Everglades; I was a kiddo.
Atop my list to hit include: Glacier, Olympic, Crater Lake and (believe it or not) Death Valley.
EDIT: I have underestimated the drinking problem here on MGoBlog and created a nother drinking thread simultaneously as another user. Please delete or feel free to use this thread as a thread of various subjects until it devolves into total anarchy.
This is your last MGoBoard Drinking Thread of 2014. There has been a lot to drink about and at the very end, a lot to drink for. So what'ya drinking?
Lloyd Carr? He seems like a brandy type guy.
Mattison? Black Label Johnny Walker.
More importantly, what do you think Jim MF Harbaugh is drinking? I say tiger blood mixed with cognac with a habanero on an umbrella toothpick.
I'm totally bored, totally sick of snow and totally into True Detective right now. Last drinking thread there appeared to be others into it.
What say you people of the MGoBoard? Who watched True Detective? Where do you see it going? Last night they set up the possibility that Cohle is behind some of the murderous happenings down in Louisiana. I'm not seeing it, but can't ignore the possibility.
Other winter distractions?
The Walking Dead has returned with its ever-slowing plots.
House of Cards Season 2 is out. I've never watched it, but I know its big.
We're just six-ish weeks from the return of Game of Thrones.
And, when all else fails, there's beer to discuss. I'm tipping back a Bell's Amber Ale at the moment.
SPOILER PROTOCOL: For the sake of everyone, I propose the following: Talking about anything that's happened in any of these shows, to date, is fair game. Talking about events/characters/plot points that have yet to occur in the shows (Walking Dead and GoT to be specific) should be verboten and considered dirty spoiling.
So, if you are not up to date on the TV shows, tread lightly. If you are a book/comic reader and know future plot happenings, those of us who just watch would appreciate your discretion.
