"It's not about last year or who's here or who's isn't here," says your head coach. "It's about getting out here and competing and seeing who is here, and that's where we're gonna go."
Sorry if this has already been posted but I didn't see it. Those of you who listened to WTKA this morning will have already heard this, and I'm sure everyone's already seen Bacon's tweets from earlier in the week regarding Brandon's future being uncertain. This morning, though, he doubled down. Asked point blank by Sam Webb if he thought Brandon survives beyond the end of football season, here's what he said:
No. How's that for an answer?
Sam asked him to explain:
It's going to be Schlissel's vote and nobody elses... he [Schlissel] will have to rely... he's on pretty firm footing with the Law school, Medical school, etc. but he is new to Big Ten, big time football, and so he'll be heavily relying on the regents for his decision making process on this. That leaves you with a group that seems to be about 6-2 against the AD.
Listen to the whole thing here, it's part 08 from today: http://www.wtka.com/page.php?page_id=87
I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I want to believe....
I laughed out loud (yes, I'm old) so many times while reading this beautiful piece by Ryan Nanni over at EDSBS: http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/2014/10/3/6901217/week-6-as-previewed-by-dave-brandons-email
My favorite bits:
RE: Texas A&M-Mississippi State
If you think football's more important that handbell choir syncopation, by all means. Those bumpkins couldn't jangle out a rudimentary version of "Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming" if their miserable lives depended on it
P.S. Kevin Sumlin eats burritos with his hands. It's repulsive.
RE: LSU at Auburn
Have we considered a second disinformation campaign spreading negative rumors about Leslie Miles, and thus eliminating any insurgency campaign supporting those who wish to see him reigning o'er Schembechler Hall? This is spitballing, but consider:
--Waited three hours in an 18th century wardrobe just to slap Lloyd Carr at an antique store
--Engaged in sex with Gary Moeller's wife, AND did not fill out the appropriate paperwork with the Big Ten Conference prior to the liason
--Is from Ohio (we have documentation to support this, I believe?)
--Has only read the prose version of The Iliad. No, this is too far. Forgive my momentary lack of scruples.
Does not wear a tuxedo while enjoying games of chance such as "bin-go" or "swim-ming"
Is that true about Les Miles only having read the prose Iliad? That IS terrible. Les didn't take Great Books as a freshman? Give me Lattimore's translation or give me death.
There is something both tragic and comical about Dave Brandon's immense douchiness. I therefore conclude that
we need a Dave Brandon photoshop thread.
Could someone please hook it up? I really need this. Badly. Something to dull the pain.
Cliff's Notes: Basically, see the statement Brandon put out the other night. Timetable of further discussion is "in the weeks and months ahead." Sounded like some audible laughter in the mix at the end.
Confidence in our administration: Waning
WARNING - This is a Freep article. I will put link at bottom but have copied a few relevant quotes from their story just published.
Not trying to bombard the board but this was just posted and wow. Presented without further comment.
Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon said today that Brady Hoke had no fault in the handling of his quarterback's brain injury and that the ensuing firestorm will not affect how he evaluates the football coach's job status.
Brandon placed the blame on the school's medical staff for not quickly diagnosing the injury to Shane Morris and relaying the information to coaches, which led to the concussed quarterback staying in for another play and re-entering the game a few minutes later for yet another play.
"I don't think Brady deserves any blame for what happened on the sidelines," Brandon said. "Because Brady is responsible for coaching.
Who do you think has handled their respective controversy better?
I would argue that Goodell has done a worse job at handling his issues: First, he chose to allow a star player to get off with a light punishment for knocking out his fiancé, after, he claims to not have seen the video or even been aware of its existance.
