Bar

The Michigan Daily is reporting that Mitch's Place on South U abruptly closed for good last night because of money issues and the recession.

Mitch's was kind of trashy and I don't think it was anybody's favorite bar in Ann Arbor (or even on South U), but nonetheless who among us can't say that some nights we just randomly ended up at Mitch's?

I, for one, know that I'll miss their cheapish drinks and strange location. And hopefully Packard Pub ends up being a good bar when it opens.

Maybe it is just me, but I can't think of anything more unpleasant than going to a Michigan bar and being forced to watch the game with a bunch of MSU fans. After sleeping on it for a couple days, I still think that it is a horrible, horrible idea. Am I wrong in this or does this qualify as alumni bar heresy and should be forever banned?

I'm sure that some MSU fans are perfectly pleasant people, but this week I would prefer that you stay the hell away from me. Shame on the Baltimore alumni bar organizer(s) for this. I may have to make the trip into DC instead...

I'm headed into Philadelphia this weekend and wanted to make sure I caught the game. Does anyone know of a good Michigan sports bar? I noticed the U of M club goes to Fox and Hound (15th and Spruce), so I'll probably head there, but I wanted to see if anyone could confirm or had a better place.
