State of the Big Ten

With Penn State losing to Iowa at Iowa, the Big Ten is now cramped when it comes selection day. For the sake of argument let's assume OSU beats NW tomorrow (if not that makes things even more crazy!)

You've got Wisc, PSU, and OSU all 10-8 and Minn and us at 9-9. What's the seeding look like?

My best guess is UW - 8, PSU - 10, OSU - 8, Minn - 11 or 12 and UM - 10 or 11 (10 if we win our first round BTT and 11 if we lose).

Personally I'd rather be an 11 seed because then you have a real shot of making to the sweet 16, as a 10 you'd have to beat a 7 seed and then a 2 seed. I think an 8 or 9 seed is easily the worst at large bid you can possibly get.

What are your thoughts?

[OTish] Bball: PSU @ tOSU

Interesting game to say the least from our perspective. If PSU pulls off the mini-upset, they may put themselves into the tourney, or at least in excellent position.

Meanwhile, OSU is on a 3 game losing streak and a loss here brings them to 7-8, tied with us. They have Purdue, @ Iowa, and Northwestern left, so they'd be in the same exact position as us, but with easier games.

I guess I'll root for PSU and the complete destruction of OSU's season in the coming week.

Although, they're up 8-2 early.

Why people hate Big Ten Basketball

Apparently, the Big Ten is morphing into a high school basketball league:

Penn State 38, Illinois 33
Recap: http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=290490356

Normally, I find that people who speak out about the weakness of Big Ten basketball to be stupid considering the number of final four teams we've produced over the last decade (9), which beats the Big 12 (6), the Big East (4, 6 if you count appearances by C-USA teams that have since defected), the Pac-10 (4), and the SEC (4), tying the ACC (9) for first. However, this is just ridiculous.

Michigan vs. Penn State Liveblog/other options

The WLA, free from capitalist oppressors, will be hosting a liveblog of the basketball game/Scrubs on ABC for all of you interested. It can be found at http://wolverineliberationarmy.blogspot.com

For the majority of you who know what "basketball" is and would like to discuss it intelligent, I believe UMHoops (http://www.umhoops.com) be doing an open thread where you can enjoy the game without the constant homo-eroticism and general hostility found at WLA.
