An interesting dynamic here with the ratings, 247 on the high end with Goodwin inside the top 250, ESPN and Rivals in harmony around 3.75, while On3 is waaaay down at 3.53. I don't know exactly what the driving force is here in the divergence between the ratings, but it will be interesting to see if this gap closes some over Goodwin's senior season, or if it will remain wide. We should also note that there is no dispute about Goodwin's measurements between these sites. Pulling it together in a consensus format has Goodwin as a high 3*, but still towards the back of our database of WR recruits since 1990.

[AFTER THE JUMP: A trusty chain-mover]

The last 2023 Hello that has not yet been done is West Bloomfield 4* IOL Amir Herring. This was a recruitment process that hinged on whether Michigan wanted Herring in the class, which for some time seemed to be an open question. As the Wolverines chased other targets, Herring tried to heal his broken heart by looking at other suitors but Michigan didn't let him get too far. As the top targets at the position fell through, the Wolverines circled back with enough time to get the job done. Herring wound up in the class after all, and now he gets his hello:

Herring is a solid 4* prospect, with only On3 at the lower end of the rankings. All four sites have him as a top ten prospect in the state and given the deep ties between West Bloomfield and UM, it always seemed likely to end this way. That said, as stated earlier, Michigan seemed to have Herring lower on their board than what these recruiting rankings would suggest. That's what we will spend most of the next section investigating.

[AFTER THE JUMP: Mean? Aggressive? Violent?]

The Wolverines picked up their third commitment in a week on Thursday night, nabbing 4* IOL Amir Herring out of West Bloomfield:

This was a topsy turvy commitment where Michigan seemed to waver on whether Herring was a take, but at the end of the day, Herring always bled maize and blue. The connections from West Bloomfield with fellow 2023 Semaj Morgan, as well as Ron Bellamy on the coaching staff, were incredibly obvious. After hurt feelings were mended, this was a simple recruitment to close the deal with. Herring is the first offensive lineman in the class, but he could be joined soon by Paul Mubenga, who will be announcing his decision in the near future. Tomorrow sees Michigan targets Collins Acheampong, Jalen Brown, and Dante Moore announce their decisions as well.
