"I still think people know I put up decent numbers without playing a second on the [power play], but yeah, probably defensive guy is right, and it's fine," Hagelin said Monday. "I know what I'm made of and I know what I have done offensively in this League while playing a defensive role. I'm confident I can do a lot of damage offensively."
"I'm a starter," he says bluntly. "I have to live up to my position to my teammates and I have to make plays. It's different from being second string. … It's a whole new world. When you're a starter, you've got to make plays.
"Second string, third string, you're not playing that much. A starter, you're out there and you're on national TV -- you've got to make plays."
"My dad and uncle always say, ‘You gotta get out the 'hood’…Some guys on the street come up and they’ll put their arm around you and say, ‘Don’t do what I did.’ I just always looked at it like I don’t want to be one of those guys on the street,” Taylor said.
