Big Ten Network and game publisher Riot Games will announce a partnership on Thursday, where 12 of 14 schools in the conference will compete in a season-long League of Legends championship. The league will start Jan. 30 and will be broadcast on BTN2Go and watch.lolesports.com, with the finals televised on March 27 by the Big Ten Network
So if you're bored with the basketball and hockey teams, there might be something new for some of you to check out. Looks like everyone in the B10 other than PSU and Nebraska will be taking part. I'm think Michigan has a pretty good team.
As a background, League of Legends is the most popular video game in the world, with over 100 million people playing every month. Recently some professional sports teams have begun investing into esports. Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks both own professional LOL teams. Former NBA player Rick Fox owns a team as well and is very personally involved in roster management. Shaq and A-Rod have also invested in teams. This is something you will be hearing more and more of in the future.
Here is Michigan playing against OSU recently (Best of 5 series. You can find the rest of the games easily enough if you're interested):
Sam Webb teased that he had some big breaking news this morning, but then said there was some red tape that had to be cleared before he could announce it and that it might not be till after the show. Did he announce it? What do people think it will be? New RB coach? New Hockey coach? Player commitment? Wild speculation accepted.
I didn't see anyone posting this in the last few weeks, likely because this Beach Boys release wasn't promoted by them or their record label. Looks like it was recorded at Hill Auditorium and was released digitally-only just a few weeks ago. Thought it might be interesting to the music fans on the board.

Is it possible that anybody who posts here was at this show? A freshman at that time would be right around 68 years old now.
I did a quick sweep of the board and didn't find any information pertaining to this so I thought I'd share.
I play League of Legends frequently, and an announment came up saying that a Big Ten tournament was going to be broadcast through BTN2GO and that Michigan vs. OSU was going to be on February 27th. For those that don't know, League of Legends is a fairly popular online game where teams compete for fun and/or money.
I know many people don't classify eSports as a real thing, but I thought it was cool for the Big Ten to embrace it and hand out scholarships to its participants.
In the earlier Isaiah Hole CB thread, several Bolivians surfaced to make their case for clemency. I posed the question in the Moderator Action Sticky whether a thread dedicated to clemency requests would be permitted. One of our gracious moderators indicated that the thread would be allowed, and it also may be a good recipe for humor.
Humor is the hope here, especially self-depricating humor. Plead your case. Non-Bolivians should weigh-in either in support or against clemency. Please do not get political. And please, do not re-post the exact same material that led to your Banhammer, unless it is in the context of what not to write.
Assuming we can have nice things, a thread like this might be entertaining every few years.
One final note -- I hope the moderators see it in their heart to consider at least one, if not more, application for clemency, assuming the user shows true remorse and accountability without qualification.
(fingers crossed on this one)
I know Brian et al. take a lot of crap at times for 502 errors and app issues, but I also think it's worth noting that the site is much faster over the past few days, and the app problem was fixed. Brian mentioned that bots were causing a lot of the frustration with 502 errors. So thanks to Brian, his brother, the app developer, and whoever else put time into getting some of those problems worked out. Michigan had a basketball game and rumors flying around about Tyrone Wheatley, Jr., and I haven't encountered one 502 error.
