Had high hopes for Klinsmann, but US men's soccer is clearly at a low point; I don't think the lack of gifted ("technical") players helps. Has he gambled on a style of football we couldn't manage and simply lost? Might the gamble pay off soon? (That is, are better players on the way?)
It's curious to me that the criticism from all quarters is so muted--no one really calling for Klinsmann's head, just saying we've got to win. Maybe this amounts to a tacit collective admission that the talent just isn't there, yet?
MOD EDIT - Moved to board - LSA
My office is nearly deserted today with many gone on spring break to one place or another. Nice to have a slow Monday for once, too. I would guess many here are headed somewhere during break, whether with kids or without.
Where are you headed?
Looking good Billy Ray!
Anyone gonna bail him out of jail?
Over the years snippets come out on various mgobloggers about their avatars - like MGrowOld, for instance, has a picture of his wife, and LSA2000 explained the 'naughty dentist' line in his avatar. And while of course some of them are pretty straight forward, nevertheless, for many, the who/what/why of your avatar and user name are unknown.
I searched the archives and found nothing on point, so the question/issue is this: Explain your avatar/picture and username - why that picture, those numbers or lettters or whatever else that designates your mgoblog presence.
CAVEAT: if 'Everybody Murders' is thinking about explaining, you might want to read some things on self-incrimination, the fifth amendment, and the fact that most jurisdictions have no statute of limitations on murder. Just in case, you know, yours is true.
Happy Easter/Holiday Weekend and Go Blue for our hockey team in about 15 minutes.
Alright, I'll admit it. Sometimes the opportunity to troll a rival presents itself and I'm tempted to succumb. Yesterday the urge to surrender to the dark impulse arose...
Michael (NOT Mike) the CSR I was talking to, mentioned something about the Red Wings logo on my credit card. I told him I chose that one because there wasn't a MICHIGAN version available. Mike responded by telling me that he was from Cbus and the Red Wings version was probably a better choice, given what OSU did to UM on the gridiron this past season. I let that comment slide. Temporarily.
As our business neared completion, Mike asked my permission to proceed with the transaction. This was a fairly substantial business transaction and Mike stood to make a healthy commission upon its completion. Mike knew that. I knew that. Mike knew that I knew that.
I told Mike that he could proceed with the transaction just as soon as he finshed a chorus of my favorite song. Mike stammered and stuttered a bit, but after a little encouragement (coupled with economic incentive, no doubt) he delivered a surprisingly good and fairly accurate rendition of The Victors.
I know trolling is wrong. I know I should have felt guilty. I probably need therapy. But all I kept thinking was, FISH ON!
I'm sure many of you have some much better trolling anecdotes to share, so let this be the forum to confess your trolling sins and cleanse your Maize and Blue souls.
