Borders, an Ann Arbor corporation, filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the Southern District of New York this morning. Penguin Books, Simon & Schuster, Random House, and HarperCollins are among the largest unsecured creditors.
Hopefully this filing does not affect the employment or accounts receivable of any in the MGoCommunity. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask - I am happy to serve as the resident corporate bankruptcy "expert" if needed.
[Edit: IF YOU HAVE BORDERS GIFT CARDS, USE THEM IMMEDIATELY!!]
Question for those of you who spend more time than I have on MGoBlog. I believe (though not positive) whats being referred to when Brian or other's refer to Special K. Could someone elaborate on exactly whom that is, where the name "Special K" came from for this person (and not other societal references to Special K that I'm well aware of thank you) and anyone knows if this is indeed the same person week in and week out and how the hell he landed at Michigan? We seem to know the backstorry on the annoncers and the band announcer, I guess its sadly relevant that this person be known.
I'm hoping someone can translate.
Starts tonight at 7:30. Fascinating that this computer ("Watson", after IBM founder) will be able to understand human idioms and natural language. It's quite complex if you've ever studied linguistics. Jennings seems like a bit of a tool, but I watched almost every one of his episodes during that long run. Brad Rutter is the other contestant, the record holder for highest cumulative winnings.
Watson will likely be the forerunner of technologies that affect our lives for several decades. Bonus opportunity for all those folks posting "Go Big Blue" to actually be correct in their rooting interest, and be the first to bow down to the machines. I side with John Connor.
Ewen Murray, a commentator for Britain's Sky Sports, said on air after seeing Woods spit on the second tee during the second round that it was "one of the ugliest things you will ever see on a golf course."
"The Euro Tour is right -- it was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better," Woods said on Twitter. "Just wasn't thinking and want to say I'm sorry."
Ridiculous, IME. If Ewen Murray is so disgusted by it then he better steer clear of any hockey, baseball, football or soccer games.
EDIT -- Video of the incident:
Check out the pictures that I took on Sunday at the Michigan softball game.
Let me know what you think.
