Stacked up Leaderboard heading into the weekend. Great weather predicted. This is one of my favorite sporting events each year. So, who do ya like?
--Love the final pairing of Freddie and Jason Dufner! Two super-laid-back guys. I would be really happy if either one of these guys gets the Green Jacket.
--Love the chances of one of the Euros to break through and win. Westwood, Garcia, McIlroy all look strong and they have the game. Any would be worthy champs.
--Don't forget Phil! He's in a great spot just three back and he knows the course so well.
--Finally, Tiger. Nope. I think he embarrassed himself today with his demeanor, dropping the club, even KICKING the club. Somebody needs to get ahold of that dude and teach him some composure. Even my wife said, "It doesn't seem like he has any interaction with his caddie." I think he misses Steve Williams very badly. And his Dad. He shows himself as a front-runner who cannot handle and overcome adversity.
--Not real psyched when a "guy from nowhere" wins, a la Schwartzel, Immelman, Oosthuizen. I like to see the trophy go to a guy who has paid his dues.
What the title says. Personally, I've got an exciting night of Monopoly and Uno going (#collegestudentgoinghard), along with hookah and maybe cigars. I also introduced my friends to Oberon and they love it, so I suppose some of that will be going around too.
Anyways, let everyone know what you're drinking down below.
The Michigan Softball Team traveled to ohio this weekend for a Friday Night / Saturday Double series against ohio. ohio is play some very good ball but we were just too much for them. We easily defeated our rivals by a score of 9-2
We were helped by a big 5-run third inning. Ashley Lane and Lauren Sweet came up big in that inning and the game. Ashley went 2 for 3 with 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored from the #4 hole. Ashley hit a 3 run dinger in the 4th. While Lauren went 1 for 3 with 3 RBIs and a run scored from a 3 run dinger in the 3rd.
Sara Driesenga hit 2 home runs, a first for her in her early career. Her first came in the 1st inning with bases empty. It was a beautiful solo shot that just stayed fair down the RF line. It looked like it hooked foul but just cleared the foul pole. Her second came in the 7th inning and was to left field. There was no question on this one. Sara finished 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Haylie Wagner dominated the suckeyes today except for one back pitch to star play Alicia herron who took her long and hard with a runner on. She finished with 2 ER off 6 hits. She had 9, count 'em, 9 strikeouts with only 1 HBP, out of 27 batters faced. What amaizing control today for Haylie.
Now this is the type of game that we needed for weeks: a tough opponent that we dominate. Coach has to be happy tonight. The only problem is they have to stay in suckeye land tonight for towmorrow's double header.
You may recall a couple weeks back that the Orlando Magic reportedely offered Dwight Howard the opportunity to help choose the next coach and GM if he chose to sign a new deal with them. This was something Howard denied, saying "no truth to that rumor, that is a responsibility that I neither asked for nor do I want." Well according to Stan Van Gundy, his current coach, Howard has told Magic management that he wants Van Gundy fired. Van Gundy stated that was told to him "at the very top" of Orlando's management. Howard has again denied this. You decide who is telling the truth.
Everytime I hear of an athlete getting popped for DUI or drugs I have no reaction now, I've become numb to it. What I do wait for is the next sentence. There it is.....he's driving on a suspended license. Bingo.
Does anyone have a clue on what is going on here? Are athletes afraid of the DMV? Do they not open mail? Doesn't anyone need a valid license to use as ID? I just find this insane. I would think teams and universities at this point would just assign an assistant to make sure everyone has all their paperwork filled out and their bills paid. I imagine when the basketball team went to Europe they did not trust all the kids were going to get their passports ready by themselves.
If anyone has any insight on this culture that could explain this behavior I'd really appreciate the info.
