Happy Star Wars Day, May the 4th be with you!
Since the Jaylen brown boondoggle, we seem to have hit a bit of a dead period for new developments. Seems like as good a time as any to share some quizzes I made on sporcle.com.
The first two challenge you to place FBS and D-1 schools in their proper state. I exclude schools with the state or major cities in their name. The FBS one is pretty easy, the D-1 basketball one is not.
Football: In this quiz you click the answers. If you aren't sure, skip it. You only get one guess per school.
Basketball: In this one you just type the answers. No penalty for wrong answers.
In the OT category, I also have a quiz for fans of Weird Al, which seems likely to cross over with this board quite a bit. In this one you'll guess whether an audio clip is from an artist's original song, or Al's parody of that song. It's harder than it sounds.
Hope you guys enjoy them. Post your scores so we can find out which poster is most willing to use google to cheat on an online quiz. Also, if you have made quizzes yourself, share them here.
A friend of mine who recently moved to the Bay Area raised an interesting question this week:
Fellow Michigan alums - Is there a standard response to being told "Go Blue!" by a stranger when they see you/your kid/your car in Michigan gear? I feel like there should be some sort of "'peace be with you'...'and also with you'" sort of call-and-answer, but I'm always caught off guard. And it's happening *a lot* since we moved to the Bay Area...
This seemed like the best place for her to get some good answers, so I agreed to post it for her. Until she asked me, I would have said my usual response is to repeat "Go Blue" back to the person in a firmer tone and ever-so-slightly louder voice. But from now on I'm going with alaikum salaam.
So I've been going through every kind of music that I have enjoyed over the course of the last 20 years. Neutral Milk Hotel's In The Aeroplane Over The Sea album is probably the greatest thing ever recorded. I first heard ITAOTS about 15 years ago, and I HATED it. Wrong place wrong time. I came back to the album in probably 2008 or so, it just happened to be on some big bundle of music that I downloaded.
It probably sat on my PC for a couple of months and then one day while listening to music on shuffle the album came on. It made sweet sweet love to my ears. Since that day I've been hooked.
What and or whom is your Neutral Milk Hotel? I'm seriously curious. What is the most beautiful thing you have witnessed?
Whoo Hoo, Final Four!
It's a good start, but we expect Michigan talent like that to reach #1.
