I'm a big fan of The Muppets. The TV shows, the old movies, the new movies, the Walt Disney World 3D show, pretty much all of it.
Well, they are going to have a new TV show this Fall, and I for one, am looking forward to it and all the memes it is sure to create.
According to SNL Kagan, the Longhorn Network now has 6.5 million in-state subscribers paying an average rate of .29 a month. Based on SNL's numbers, that means in 2015 the Longhorn Network will bring in $22.6 million in revenue from those 6.5 million subscribers in Texas. ESPN doesn't comment on particular revenue numbers for channels, but ESPN says the LHN actually has 20 million subscribers. That's a big difference in subscriber numbers, but when you parse the difference between those subscriber numbers, the revenue isn't much different. That's because, according to SNL Kagan, all of the national subscribers outside the state of Texas -- that's roughly 13.5 million subscribers -- are paying $0.02 a month, or $0.24 a year, for the Longhorn Network. Those 13.5 million subscribers would add just $3.2 million more a year in revenue, meaning after four years the Longhorn Network is still just doing $25.8 million a year in revenue. (Putting that number in a sports TV context, the Longhorn Network is on pace to do less revenue in 20 years than Mayweather-Pacquiao did in one night of pay-per-view boxing. Given that ESPN has guaranteed Texas in the neighborhood of $15 million a year and the costs to launch and run the network were substantial, this also means ESPN has lost money every year the Longhorn Network has existed. Those losses likely run into the tens of millions of dollars so far. And while the Longhorns were guaranteed a payment that averages $15 million a year and ESPN isn't bouncing checks, the rumored millions of additional dollars that could materialize from a successful network are not ever going to arrive.
The Longhorn Network has become a disaster for UT and ESPN. It's interesting that the author thinks it helped launch the SEC Network and actually strengthened its rivals more than it did Texas.
As I look to expand my inventory of Michigan gear (which is already pretty big), I'm looking for a Michigan pull-over. I would prefer a white or maize pull-over. I found two styles on the M-Den that I like but it doesn't have the WOW factor for me.

I am one of the many who hates the B1G expansion, as I can't stand how it spreads out the schedule and takes UM away from its traditional rivals (e.g., not playing Wisky in football for something like 5-6 years). To play out east for the benefit our considerable alum network, just schedule home & away with Rutgers, UConn, UVa, etc and be done with it.
Regardless, I'm not here to re-argue that, but to point out that I was really surprised to learn today the Rutgers, even with B1G network cash, is projecting athletic dept deficits of "$183 million between now and 2022." That's just astonishing. It's EMU-level bad in terms of the school having to take money from academics just so it can pay for athletics .
Beyond that, I think Rutgers is probably being overly optimistic in how things will be better in the next decade. Sports fees paid by cable subscribers (as covered by Brian and elsewhere) is likely at its crest, and ESPN, Fox Sports, B1G, etc are soon going to have deal with unbundling and find out how to make do without relying on the majority of subscribers who would rather keep their dollars than subsidize a network they don't give two hoots about.
If/when Rutgers has to start cutting sports, I wonder how attractive they still will be to the B1G (though I know they will still bring the NYC market...cough
There are many posters on here who believe the logo on the cookie doesn’t matter. Here is another reason why it matters to others.
Hydrox Cookie: Made with cheap, thin white creme, and it tastes stale.
Oreo Cookie: Look at the effort put into these cookies. Cookie has a tight fit and is made with thick creme.
The million dollar question is if the cookie quality in terms of expensive creme R&D is worth the price of a box.
