Another Gameday is upon us. Let us drink and be, well, drunk. Reminders:
- Michigan football plays at 3:30 today against Indiana. Known to the locals as the "Hoosiers," Indiana plays a 2-1-2 zone in addition to man coverage, and they shoot a high percentage from the field, based largely on their play from the big men inside. Michigan will need to get some good play from their point guards if they hope to pull the upset... wait, what's that you say? Football, eh? Oh. Never mind. Michigan by a lot.
- Ryder Cup play continues this morning. The United States leads 2.5 to 1.5 after the first set of matches. America, #1. Love it or leave it. Stanzi loves him some Ryder Cup play.
- Ohio State/Illinois and Minnesota/Northwestern (lol Minnesota) at noon, Wisconsin/Michigan State is your "hey, check the score of the other game during commercials" game at 3:30. Penn State/Iowa and Florida/Bama at 8:00.
Question: Are people in MGoBlogville rooting for Ohio State this weekend?
My two-cents worth: Normally, I would probably cheer on the Buckeyes against Illinois (Illini fans are obnoxious) but I submit that a OSU loss tomorrow hurts OSU to the point that they come into the Michigan game a bit deflated and flat. I'm not one to hope for Michigan's competition to come in at less than 100% but, well, I guess that's what I'm rooting for here. Not that I don't think Michigan can win our big rivalry weekend - I'd just rather see Michigan come in with a leg up on the competition.
If it stays 42 and sunny I'll be happy!
OK, it sounds a bit like a joke...so the writer from the Michigan Messenger, Charles Woodson, and Brian Cook walk into a radio studio...
But I was surprised to see no one mentioned any of it yet. It was a pretty interesting morning show.
They started with the Michigan Messenger article MSU story, and had the writer of the article on. It was more a take on the media coverage (or lack thereof), and how it reflected on other stories, rather than a ragging on Sparty session. Or even getting into the case that much. So not that inflammatory, and probably a big of what we already know. But Debucks does say that other media sources had the same info he had, and decided not to run with it.
Then Charles Woodson comes on, because the Lions are playing them this week. Highlight question might be, after Sam had visited Fremont Ohio, did Fremont put the swagger in Charles Woodson, or did Charles Woodson put the swagger in Fremont.
And then Brian comes in for his weekly segment, and they start with the MSU situation, which is I believe Brian's first public take on it, then they get into Indiana game discussion. I'd say anyone who believes in jinxing games, do some reverse ju-ju for Brian, because he basically says we're going to roll Indiana like Bowling Green. The karma isn't feeling too good...
This may be a horrible thread to start, but every once in a while i will read the comments below Michigan videos on You Tube and just be amazed at how uneducated the comments. For example i just read this one today,
"lol, every year michigan thinks its "their time". you all were sayin the same stuff last year until you got into the conference schedule and got destroyed. If there is one thing a typical Big 10 defense can do, it's stop the run. This offense won't work in the Big 10. For everybody that thinks robinson is gonna win the heisman - he was on the team last year and didn't start. Why? All the sudden he can throw? Get real. When he is forced to throw down field, we'll see the same thing we did in 2009" (daytonkid11)
Besides the obvious idea of why watch a Michigan hype video when you are not a Michigan fan, the comment about Denard not starting last year really makes me laugh. I guess this kid has never heard of "coaching."
Anyways, i was just wondering what comments on You Tube or any other site have really just pissed you off?
I apologize if this has been posted, but it is worth noting. The move Answer This!, starring (among others) Prof Ralph Williams is showing at the Michigan Theater before it heads to the festival circuit. I admit, I don't know a whole lot about the film, but my understanding is that it includes UofM, Prof Williams, and a professional bar trivia circuit. That is all I needed to hear. You can search Answer This! on yahoo or google and it will take you to their webpage where tickets are still available.
