fair point that
I know there are many lawyer-types on the board, but I don't know how many are true freshman who will be taking the Bar Exam tomorrow and Wednesday.
Anyone else out there preparing to dine in hell?
In the process of drinking a few Irish Car Bombs with a ND fan friend of mine last week, I decided on doing a tailgating version of what monumental does with his wallpapers and theme the weekly food and drink menu to the opponent. This is what I have come up with so far (the other schedule is Pitt, who I also follow closely and included in my menu) and would love some suggestions for improvement.
9/03: WMU/ Buffalo
Bell's Kalamazoo Stout and buffalo wings.
9/10: ND/ Maine
Guinness, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Bailey's and corned beef with Dubliner cheese. (No way to handle lobster as well, but that's too bad.)
9/17: EMU/ Iowa
Bell's Two Hearted Ale and Domino's pizza with spicy rubbed corn.
9/24: SDSU/ ND
Jose Cuervo Silver and fish tacos.
Daiquiri's (Appleton Estates) and Cuban sandwiches.
Absolut and Swedish meatballs (paying tribute to the heritage of many Minnesota natives, but I would love some help identifying a unique Minneapolis food or drink)
10/8: Northwestern/ Rutgers
Goose Island 312 and deep dish pizza (sorry NY style, you lose).
10/15: MSU/ Utah
Bell's Third Coast and bison burgers
10/26: Purdue/ UConn
Hendrick's martinis and blue crab (reaching on this one as well, but trying to go with a New England theme since nothing from Purdue was obvious to me).
11/05: Iowa/ Cincinnati
Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold and Skyline chili with spaghetti and cheddar (girlfriend's hometown, so no corn).
11/12: Illinois/ Louisville
Jim Beam Old Fashioned's and fried chicken (Northwestern got the good stuff... except Portillo's).
Corn whiskey and a farmers breakfast.
Moonshine and pork rinds (anyone have a hookup?)
Great Lakes Burning River and buckeyes
12/3: Syracuse/ BTCG Opponent
Completely stuck; can someone from upstate NY chime in? Or, if we play Wisconsin, it'll be Leinenkugel Creamy Dark and cheddar fondue.
Anyway, this is just my attempt to keep fall on my mind in late July. Sorry if this is a stupid idea or if people have been doing this for years, but it kept me occupied and I am looking forward to it.
Since many of the members of the board have a love affair with this movie, I thought I'd pass this along:
So the Athletic Department will now officially endorse ticket scalping through Stubhub, as long as they get a cut.
I've never used Stubhub, but from what I've read it's usually expensive and Stubhub takes a huge cut (which forces prices even higher). The part that makes me most nervous is this:
Throughout the 2011-12 Wolverine athletic season, StubHub marketing assets will be highly visible across football, basketball and hockey properties for the University. StubHub will host a football hospitality event for the historic, first-ever night game at Michigan Stadium, which is Sept. 10 against Notre Dame. Additionally, StubHub will be featured courtside, on dasher board signs, and via radio promotions. The partnership will round out with MGoBlue.com strategic placements and social media elements.
It's just one step closer to advertising inside Michigan Stadium. And if the Stubhub logo appears on the face of the (probably collectors items) Notre Dame/Nebraska/Ohio State tickets, there will probably be a riot toward Dave Brandon's office.
Who'd'a thunk it? Read the crew list:
Background info: I live in Ohio just east of columbus, and am a very proud Michigan.
I was on my way to pick up my wife from school today and next to me was a middle aged couple in a van that kept honking. So I turned my head to look at them and they were waving an osu hat at me while flipping me off (they must have noticed the 3 michigan hats in my back window). So as we were approaching a red light the couple must have not realized it because as i was slowing down they were mainting there speed (about 50 mph) and ran into the back of a cop car. I didn't stay to see what happened because I was already late to get my wife. Just thought I'd share this experience with all mgousers. It just goes to show how big of idiots (most) osu fans are.
