I'd like to take a moment to link Spencer Hall's Mad Max: Fury Road review, because it is the finest piece of cultural literature I have ever read We all knew Spencer and the guys at EDSBS could write humerously about sports and Turkish Soccer. Turns out, he's a man with his finger on the pulse of the nation's cultural scene.
I implore you all, READ IT BECAUSE IT IS BARRENLY AWESOME LIKE THE SHAVED AND TATOOED DOME OF A POST APPOCOLYPTIC BLOOD DRINKING HELL DEMON PULLING OFF SOME EVEL KINEVEL SHIT BEFORE BLOWING UP IN MID AIR.
The saga of vandalism caused by Sigma Alpha Mu at the Treetops Resort in Gaylord last January continues. Multiple media outlets, including the Detroit News and the Michigan Daily, report that Treetops is pursuing legal action against the fraternity and at least individual fraternity members Joshua Kaplan, Zachary Levin, and Matthew Vlasic, all named in the various accounts.

The suit alleges both physical damage and loss to reputation in excess of $430,000. Insurance and a payment of $25k from the Sammies covers some but not all the alleged damage. Interestingly, the Sammies were at Treetops the year prior, and caused in excess of $11,000 in damage. At first blush, this makes you wonder why Treetops would agree to allow them to return. However, according to Treetops, a certain amount of damage is considered normal with large college student groups.
In the January incident, things went south when Treetops management confronted Sammy leaders after their first night, regarding prepayment arrangements that hadn't been met. As a result, Treetops alleges malicious and intentional retaliatory action by many of the Sammies, including urinating on carpeting in all the rooms they were using. According to Treetops, this was the first time they ever had to contact State Police to have a group evicted.
From my bike ride today.
I'm a big fan of The Muppets. The TV shows, the old movies, the new movies, the Walt Disney World 3D show, pretty much all of it.
Well, they are going to have a new TV show this Fall, and I for one, am looking forward to it and all the memes it is sure to create.
According to SNL Kagan, the Longhorn Network now has 6.5 million in-state subscribers paying an average rate of .29 a month. Based on SNL's numbers, that means in 2015 the Longhorn Network will bring in $22.6 million in revenue from those 6.5 million subscribers in Texas. ESPN doesn't comment on particular revenue numbers for channels, but ESPN says the LHN actually has 20 million subscribers. That's a big difference in subscriber numbers, but when you parse the difference between those subscriber numbers, the revenue isn't much different. That's because, according to SNL Kagan, all of the national subscribers outside the state of Texas -- that's roughly 13.5 million subscribers -- are paying $0.02 a month, or $0.24 a year, for the Longhorn Network. Those 13.5 million subscribers would add just $3.2 million more a year in revenue, meaning after four years the Longhorn Network is still just doing $25.8 million a year in revenue. (Putting that number in a sports TV context, the Longhorn Network is on pace to do less revenue in 20 years than Mayweather-Pacquiao did in one night of pay-per-view boxing. Given that ESPN has guaranteed Texas in the neighborhood of $15 million a year and the costs to launch and run the network were substantial, this also means ESPN has lost money every year the Longhorn Network has existed. Those losses likely run into the tens of millions of dollars so far. And while the Longhorns were guaranteed a payment that averages $15 million a year and ESPN isn't bouncing checks, the rumored millions of additional dollars that could materialize from a successful network are not ever going to arrive.
The Longhorn Network has become a disaster for UT and ESPN. It's interesting that the author thinks it helped launch the SEC Network and actually strengthened its rivals more than it did Texas.
As I look to expand my inventory of Michigan gear (which is already pretty big), I'm looking for a Michigan pull-over. I would prefer a white or maize pull-over. I found two styles on the M-Den that I like but it doesn't have the WOW factor for me.
These Are the two I found:
