OT - NCAA lacrosse bracket show
The NCAA lacrosse selection show was last night. Despite the struggles of our first two seasons it was nice to hear the commentators mention Michigan as a program that will get there soon and do some damage when we do. Good to see objective observers who know the game believe in where we're headed.
As for the brackets, this tournament is the most wide open I can remember. Coming off the Loyola national championship last year this is more evidence of the slow changing of the guard as parity hits lacrosse. No Hopkins for the first time in 41 years. No Virginia. Ohio as the 3 seed. 10 years ago if you would have said that someday 3 of the top 4 seeds would be ND, Ohio and Denver any blue blooded east coast lacrosse person (me) would have called in the men in the white coats.
In a local side note, Detroit made the tournament for the first time in their five year history as a program. They beat Siena in OT yesterday to get their AQ. Good for them, but thank God for the MAAC. They sport a 5-9 record with all 5 wins coming in the conference.
If you are in the midwest, Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is a quarterfinal site on the 19th. Not sure why they picked Indy (must be the same guys who choose Frozen Four sites), but it's the first time a quarterfinal has been anywhere west of the Appalachians. Go if you're nearby.
Lacrosse knocks off St. Joe's 11-8 for 1st win!!
Michigan picked up their first win of the season and second win in program history today over St. Joseph's (5-9) today 11-8. Michigan played an outstanding game and dominated in every section besides the final score.
This is Michigan's first home win in program history, first win at Michigan Stadium, first win on senior day, and first win over a power conference team.
Next up for Michigan is #1 Denver on Saturday, 4/27 at 3pm EST. That one will most likely be ugly but it's nice to avoid a goose egg.
Weather ruins first UTL game for Lacrosse (Cancelled)
Michigan's annual game against Detroit which was supossed to have been the first night game in lacrosse at Michigan Stadium yesterday was on weather delay twice.
UDM led 4-3 early in the second period before the game was ultimately suspended and the fate of it was supossed to be announced today.
Well earlier in the day, Michigan & UDM decided not to continue the game and just cancel it. Michigan now only has one realistic chance at winning a game this season and it's Saturday against St. Joe's. Then they will go on the road to Denver for the season finale. (Will be final game since only top-4 make it to ECAC Tourney)
M Lacrosse drops to 0-11 in 12-5 loss to Delaware
Another tough loss today for Michigan. They were just flat out beat today by a hungrier team. And it hurts to say that.
Delaware lead 6-1 at halftime and at one point was up 11-2.
Next up for the Laxers is the biggest game of the season. Battle at The Big House II which will take place at 3:30pm following the football spring game. Last year Michigan came close, losing 12-9 to ohio.
ohio is ranked #15 and beat hobart 10-6 today.

M Lacrosse falls to Air Force 10-6 in ECAC game
Today at Michigan Stadium, Michigan dropped a 10-6 game to Air Force (5-5, 1-3 ECAC).
The game was not as close as the score and stats show. Michigan was down 9-1 in the 3rd before they went on a run. Kyle Jackson, Mike Hernandez and Will Meter all had 2 goals.
Next up for Michigan is at delaware next Saturday at noon in the road trip of the home and home scheduled. And then the next week on 4/13, Michigan will take on ohio at Battle at The Big House II which takes place at 3:30pm following the football spring game.

Lacrosse loses close one, 10-7 vs Colgate at Citi Field
Another close one for Michigan today at the Metropolitan Lacrosse Classic at Citi Field, home of the Mets. Thanks to Mets owner and Michigan alum Fred Wilpon, Michigan was the home team.
Without a couple sloppy plays on defense by Michigan and the fatal colgate mistake of nearly scoring on themselves coming to fruition, Michigan could have very well won this game.
Saturday, 3/23, Michigan will get the defending national champion #10 Loyola (MD) at Michigan Stadium to open up the true home slate. Game will be on MGoBlueTV. This is Loyola's final season in the ECAC. They will be defecting to the Patriot League next season.
Stats- Michigan had a pretty good game and the stats don't lie. Shocking one was perfect on clears.
