well that's just, like, your opinion, man
The Flint Firebirds saga has been well documented during the year but for now it has come to an end.
The franchise is in its first year after moving from Plymouth. Early in the season the entire team quit after the owner fired the entire coaching staff over his son's ice time. The coaching staff was re-hired, only to be fired a few months later.
Now the OHL has stepped in and suspended the owner for five years with the league taking over the team. They'll also lose a 1st round pick in Saturday's draft and have to pay a fine.
Three teams tied in the East at 91 points - Wings, Boston, Philly.
Wings/Boston are fighting for automatic 3rd place bid. All three are fighting for the last wildcard spot behind NY Islanders with 97 points.
We have a game in hand over Boston.
The wings play Philly at home tonight and Boston on the road tomorrow, NY Rangers on Sat.
If we beat Boston tomorrow, we only need to pick up one more point (a tie with Philly or NY) to have 94 points and Boston could only pickup 2 points vs Ottawa - we lock up 3rd place.
If we lose to Boston tomorrow, we would have to win tonight vs Philly and on the road vs the Rangers to have a chance to tie Boston.
Beating Boston is a must - do you save the best goalie for tomorrow? Or play him twice?
Really thought he would come back next year.
Breaking: Red Berenson has told me Tyler Motte will forgo his senior season and sign with the Chicago Blackhawks— Jason Rubinstein (@jrubinstein4) April 6, 2016
Former Michigan hockey player Andrew Cogliano just became only the 2nd player in NHL history to start his career with 700 consecutive games played. This means that in his entire career to date he has never missed a game due to injury (knock on wood) nor been a healthy scratch.
He has a ways to go to become number one all time though. Doug Jarvis played in the first 924 games of his career back in the 70s/80s.
Here we are: 7 points between 1st and 4th (and out of the playoffs).

Need Chicago to beat Boston today - 12:30 on NBC.
The rest of Boston's schedule is Carolina, Detroit, Ottawa.
Boston will probably win at least one if not both of Carolina & Ottawa.
That means Detroit needs to win at least 2 of 3 to lock: Boston for sure and either Philly at home or at the Rangers.
