The title pretty much says it all. NHL.com released 3 different 2012 mock drafts today. Jacob Trouba and Boo Nieves are both projected in there but Phil Di Giuseppe is also listed as high as #11 overall (!) which is just astounding to me. I thought he was a bit of an under-the-radar guy.
Trouba, 1st rd #8
Trouba, #10 (to the Red Wings, if only)
I can't say for sure, but that probably gives us solidly 3 of the top 10-15 kids in all of college hockey per NHL standards at least
Also, former commit Matia Marcatuoni shows up in two of the drafts at #18 and #20
EDIT: While I'm talking hockey, I thought it would be humorous to point out that the state of michigan has 7 D1 teams...and MSU is the only one not ranked in USCHO's top 20 right now. #HALOL
So, this was supposed to be the best home football schedule of UM in a few years and for a few years to come. As a recent season ticket holder, I was so stoked to come into town for at least 5 of the games to catch up with my 2 best friends doing our favorite thing - tailgating and rooting for the Wolverines. I got a hall pass from wifey to go to at 5 games, WMU, ND, Purdue, Neb. and ohio (although it was mission).
Of course, three family medical emergencies put the kaibash on WMU, ND, and Purdue. Extreeeem frustration, but thankful that those people are okay.
To make up for not making it to those games, I've planned the Ultimate Michigan Sports Weekend Nov. 18-19. Taking half day on Friday, Nov. 18, drive up to AA, take in the scene, eat dinner, then watch M beat ohio in hockey at Yost with friends and family. Stay at local hotel, get up and tailgate for M-Nebraska game, watch M beat Nebska.
My question for the board is how many rows high are the sideline sections of Yost? Our tickets for the hockey game are Sect. 2 (goal line), row 16. Anyone have picks from goal line seats at Yost?
Other ideas for making the ultimate Ultimate Michigan Sports Weekend better are also welcome, as is a dialouge of other Ultimate Michigan Sports Weekends.
NTDP goalie and former 5th Round OHL draft pick Jared Rutledge has committed to the Wolverines, and sounds like he's sure it will stick.
"I told Red I didn't want to be their hat trick," Rutledge said with a smile. "I told them all along that when I made my decision, I was going to be 100% sure I was coming there. I couldn't be happier and I'm really excited."
This was mentioned in the Ferris State game thread, but probably deserves its own.
huge game tonight
I think a lot of people saw this coming, but now it's official. UAH is discontinuing their hockey program.
“While we appreciate the voices of support for our Division I ice hockey program, as an institution of higher learning during these times of economic stress on education, we must place our greatest emphasis of taxpayer investment in the classroom and in our laboratories.”
