It was posted that he left the Gilman program and there was speculation about a position with M, hadn't heard him speak on it until now. Interesting read. Didn't know he also had a daughter on the crew team. Critical tidbit:
“Here we are with our last child in seventh grade and I really want to do the Michigan thing, but I don’t want to do it more than I want to do what’s best for my daughter," Poggi said. "That’s what we’re considering.
According to a lot of insiders Richardson was one of the de-commits that the coaching staff wishes it could have held on to. I have to say this one kind of stings.
I wonder if more of the recent de-commits end up at Maryland because of the Durkin connection?
Harbaugh is not garbage or trash like u guys are calling him. It his team and he knows what he is doing.
@R_Weaver80 And no shots were taken at Michigan. Just put in my letter what I was told.
Please Don't feel sorry for me and atleast don't unfollow me too lol
247 gives this a sounds-better-than-it-really-is headline:
I believe with Baxter gone, Drevno probably took over West Coast duties full time (I assume he was doing west coast earlier too) but apparently he went in home with Vicious Vic today. Some might see that as a sign we want him as a QB but I do think UM does quite a bit of recruiting based on region rather than position (but doesn't hurt to have an OC visit when supposedly the concern was he would not get a shot at QB). Unless....Viramontes is going full OL!!!
Also related, old friend RichRod offered Viramontes Saturday- and he apparently expanded his top 3 immediately to top 4 to include Arizona. Will be overnighting with Zona now. Viramontes would obviously fit that Rich Rod offense pretty neatly as a QB.
Viramontes is headed to #Arizona for his OV. They offered him Saturday. He immediately extended his top 3, to 4, when they offered.— Brandon Justice (@BrandonCJustice) January 26, 2016
I was informed Michigan OC Tim Drevno just went on an in-home visit to 3* ATH, and former Michigan commit, Vic Viramontes.— Brandon Justice (@BrandonCJustice) January 26, 2016
Biff Poggi, father of UM football player Henry Poggi and coach of UM OL commit Stephen Spanellis, is leaving his head coaching position at Maryland football powerhouse Gilman. He has coached there for 19 years. The school has won 13 MIAA A conference championships since 1998. Seems like he's good at his job.
No reports on whether this is just retirement or if he's headed elsewhere, but it appears Michigan would be a distinct possibility as a landing spot. Per a few insiders, Michigan had more spots to fill in the recruiting office than just Partridge's old job, leaving the door open to taking two guys like Poggi/Bush Sr.
DJ Durkin offered him an assistant position at Maryland and he turned it down. I would cackle with glee if he decided to accept a lower position with Harbaugh instead.
Also, Biff Poggi is one of the greatest names ever.
