This can also serve as our daily morning Harbaugh open thread:
Source close to Michigan Program told me unless he changes his mind, Jim Harbaugh will leave the 49ers to become the new Michigan Coach.— Joe Pequeno (@JoePequenoCBS5) December 23, 2014
One would imagine this may set off national dominoes, as he was heavily quoted as the source for the contract offer.
This is some pretty interesting readings in the embed. All 46 people who applied for the Wisconsin head coaching job had to file an application of some sort. So you can't really hide that you were interested in the job. You get the gamut from geniune to some silly folks who basically sent themselves in like a write in candidate for political office.
Just curious - both Wisconsin and Michigan are public universities. The story claims these applications are required due to being public (seems iffy). Seems more like a Wisconsin thing.
EDIT - looks like in the comment sectio they claim state law allows applicant to request their application stay hidden as long as they notify the university in writing. Someone forgot to tell Bronco.
Anyhow it's sort of interesting to see this stuff out in public.
Happy Birthday to #4, who turns 51 today. Here he is doing pushups with a walrus.
"Baalke did confirm that the University of Michigan has approached the 49ers about hiring Harbaugh to fill their vacant coaching position. Multiple reports last week stated that Michigan, Harbaugh's alma mater, is offering him a six-year, $48 million deal."
This is my favorite part HAIL HACKETT!
""I think the University of Michigan, in reaching out, did handle it correctly," Baalke said. "As I look at it, guys, it's very simple: He's the head football coach of the San Francisco 49ers."
I had a friend who lives outside of gainesville and who keeps his ears open for UF football news tell me that he heard nuss was going to be introduced as the new OC tomorrow. Has anybody heard about this?
