well that's just, like, your opinion, man
Matt Hinton re-upped this article on twitter recently, and I dove back in with fresh eyes. Last year, when it was published, it didn't seem to have much Michigan relevance...
But this season it is very much worth checking out. I won't duplicate the content here, but these ingredients in particular were notable:
2. A First-Term Coach
Read to see just what he means. But yeah, we've got that. And it makes the importance of this season all the more significant.
3. A Defensive Line of Doom
4. A Stellar Secondary
Check here too.
It really is quite insightful and worth reading the whole thing with Michigan-tinted glasses. Also notable: Read the section on "Having a Proven Quarterback." Spoiler: It's not where you think it is at all.
Is it September yet
I just read that a third Alabama player (OL Taylor; DUI) has been arrested this off-season (yikes!) and it got me thinking about Michigan's offseason.
Does anyone have a good summary of what's happened since the Wolverines bludgeoned the Gators in January? That would obviously include recruiting, admin hires, transfers, announcements, off-field incidents, etc.
Off the top of my head:
- Butt, Lewis return
- Top-5 recruiting class
- Hackett to Manuel
- Switch to Jordan (in a few weeks)
- Green to TCU
I'm sure I've missed plenty. What else? What's your favorite thing that's happened this off-season?
They're saying 300+ items will be for sale except jerseys which will come out on 8/6. Just a heads up for those going.
...days until Jake Ryan is reminded again why he chose the MIchigan Wolverines.
Jake is one of my all-time favorite players. He played linebacker for five years years (red shirt in 2010) and appeared in forty-six games, forty-one of which were starts. Jake originally donned the number ninety jersey, but then switched to forty-seven in honor of Bennie Oosterbaan. He was named to multiple "All-" lists throughout his career. Jake also used to sport some righteous hair, but cut it. I don't recall, but think he is the one who cut it for charity. I could be wrong, though. Jake was drafted in 2015 by the Packers (fourth round, which was way too low for a guy like this).

Of those on the list, I think Ross is the most likely to see significant time. I can see arguments for the guys listed who play on the line because of next year's depth situation. I think that including McCaffrey on the list is kinda crazy. He'll be facing highly-rated guys with far more experience. No reason to burn that redshirt.
Edit: Whoops, looks like McCaffrey was listed as the least likely.
Just saw on 247 that McCaffrey has been dropped to a four-star instead of a five-star, which he had previously maintained for the past several months. Anyone know the reason for the drop?
(I couldn't find this already discussed on the board. If it has been, apologies, and mods please delete.)
