i would find this more credible if it was about Tom Crean
Sounds to me like this was either ratings-driven, or political correctness. I may be a communist on the football field, but not in my ranking of Big Ten athletes.
2007 - Boston College nearly loses to Massachusetts 24-14 only to go on to an 11-3 season with a Citrus Bowl appearance
2008 - Ohio State almost loses to Ohio University, 26-14, then goes on to a 10-3 season with a Fiesta Bowl appearance
2009 - Iowa almost loses to Northern Iowa (twice!) 17-16 en route to a 11-2 season with an Orange bowl appearance
This list is not all-encompasing.
Am I promising a BCS bowl appearance? No, nor am I promising a double-digit win season. I'm just saying take a deep breath and enjoy the win.
If you watched ABC's later-game halftime show recaps, you wouldn't have known about any of the things we're tearing our hair out about. Denard hype as expected, but well-rounded highlights (if you're talking about Michigan offense only), including the accompliments of Stonum and Shaw. When they showed Denard's stats (only a bit over 100 yds rushing?), it was only to give an opportunity for appropriate teasing. And though the score was in the graphics, I don't believe they ever said the score out loud or even (am I imagining this?) said anything about U.Mass. (Nor did they mention Denard's first interception of the season.) Is this a case of Band Wagoneers gotta Band Wagon? Is it wrong to hope the recruits were watching ABC games?
I do some searching here and there for jersies on ebay either hockey or football and my usual search is Michigan football jersey. I decided to throw it a curve ball and type in Michigan football pants and low and behold I found these!
250.00 For a pair of game used Michigan maize football pants. Free shipping too. Sadly price wise this item isn't in my ball park right now.
Phew... I'm still trying to calm down after the close call today against UMass. Obviously no one can be pleased with the way we played them so close. That said, I think it would be a huge overreaction to start panicking. We got a win today. Denard continued to get snaps and become more comfortable running the offense. Our running backs got involved in a real way for the first time.
We are still a young team coming off a very emotional win. The national press wrote flattering articles about Denard et al for the past week straight. I'm not surprised at all that we came out flat. Let's all take a deep breath, have a few beers and enjoy a "W," regardless of how we got it. We are 3-0. I can assure you that we will come out much sharper next week. Go Blue!
