I never saw this mentioned on the board. I obviously thought it was interesting and exciting...
Today he answered some questions on his mailbag about his choice...
Lots of great pictures up on the U of M Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=264237&id=155034533624&ref=mf#!/album.php?aid=264237&id=155034533624
...makes me really anxious to see who lines up and starts. We have depth at offense -- especially at running back -- that would make most D1 teams envious.
I don't know about you, but 22 days just seems like too damn long to me. Fortunately, there are a few events between now and then that can help break up the time and give us something to talk about. A few that come to mind:
August 14 - Michigan visits NCAA, receives free punch and pie.
August 15 - 2-a-days begin.
August 19 - BTN Campus Tour of Michigan televised, 8:00 p.m.
August 22 - Fan Day (h/t VideoTom)
August 28? - Beanie Bowl (estimated, based on last two years)
August 30 - Planned release of preliminary depth chart. It will not list a starting quarterback. Don't even hope.
September 2nd - Football-type substance: Southern Miss v. South Carolina, Indiana v. Towson, Minnesota v. Middle Tennessee, Marshall v. Ohio State, USC v. Hawaii (among others)
Anything else we can look forward to between now and UConn?
I am having a difficult time of figuring out which players are battling for which positions on the defense. Can someone who knows the 3-3-5 defense and Michigan terminology create a chart of the position layout with names, and put a depth chart/position battles for each of the positions. I know noone knows for sure going into fall camp, but I have to admit, I am getting really confused on where players may line up. i.e. Craig Roh is a hybrid player, but I think that means he is an outside linebacker that might occasionally line up on the line? Mike Martin may play Tackle or DE? I have been trying to figure it out, but keep getting distracted by Gerg's flowing locks. It would be highly approciated if someone smarter than me could create a Diary post like this, or maybe just a run down in here. Thanks in advance.
Edit: http://mgoblog.com/diaries/ff201-day-2-3-3-5-vs-tight-formations has a nice layout of the positions and where they are and terminology, I am just curious to see who is our depth at which spots.

At Michigan's practice. Love the "M" drill - runner trying to get thru 3 levels of blocking. Saw good moments from Michael Cox & W Campbell
Loss of Mesko is obviously a concern, but the frehman Hagerup has really boomed a few
Great energy in 1 on 1 tackle drill. Vlad Emilien just had a big time hit. Sweet move earlier out of Terrance Robinson.
Marvin Robinson, Brandin Hawthorne and Courtney Avery among the others who had good moments
Based on today - tough call on QB situation. All 3 have had some good moments. DR clearly improved as a passer.
