I'VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF YOU SONNY
Action since last rankings:
8-3-10 Illinois gains commitment from Carl Williams. Iowa gains commitment from Torrey Campbell.
8-4-10 Illinois gains commitment from JT Thornton. Michigan State gains commitment from Ed Davis.
8-5-10 Michigan State gains commitment from Darien Harris.
8-7-10 Northwestern gains commitment from Treyvon Green.
Action might slow down now that summer camps are over. The ramp-up to the season and the first couple weeks could bring many commits though.
Big Ten+ Recruiting Class Rankings
|Rank||School||# Commits||Rivals Avg||Scout Avg||ESPN Avg|
Rivals rankings have been converted to their "RR" scale, which is on a scale from about 5 to about 6.1. Unrated prospects are given a 5.1 rating, on par with the worst of any Big Ten commit last year. Scout is on the 5-star system (unranked players earn star), and ESPN uses grades out of 100 (unranked is 40 or 45).
#1 Ohio State - 17 Commits
#2 Notre Dame - 16 Commits
Nothing new for Notre Dame.
#3 Michigan - 9 Commits
Michigan might grab FL OL Tony Posada next week, unless South Florida has something to say about it.
#4 Nebraska - 13 Commits
No change for the Huskers.
#5 Michigan State - 13 Commits
Spartans pick up a couple of commits. I think that's enough to bump them past Indiana.
#6 Indiana - 21 Commits
Nothing new for IU.
#7 Northwestern - 13 Commits
NU snags Treyvon Green. Rivals hasn't rated him yet.
#8 Iowa - 12 Commits
Torrey Campbell picks Iowa, becoming their third-best recruit.
#9 Minnesota - 13 Commits
No change for Minnesota.
#10 Wisconsin - 8 Commits
Nothing new for the Badgers.
#11 Penn State - 4 Commits
PSU still taking it easy.
#12 Illinois - 13 Commits
Illinois is pretty close to passing Wisconsin.
#13 Purdue - 6 Commits
Boilers still bringing up the rear.
What I think I'll be drinking during the season.
UConn: a real dry pale ale. Probably Caldera.
ND: Gin and Tonics
UMass: 9am on the west coast? Start with Bloody Mary's and then anything goes.
BGSU: A couple of growlers of something really, really hoppy.
Indiana: Kind of a bye week. My buddy is bringing his vaporizer.
MSU: Special order a case of Bell's Two Hearted
Iowa: Bourbon and more bourbon
PSU: Oct 30th in Portland? Gonna be Stout weather.
Illinois: Imperial IPA's. A lot of them.
Wisconsin: Margaritas and cheap beer.
Ohio State: One of all the above!
So obviously David Brandon has been publicly supportive of RichRod and everything, but I think his actions speak much louder than his words when it comes to his faith in RR to get the job done. He has scheduled a prime-time Big House night game under the lights against Brian Kelley's ND in 2011 and a season-opening neutral site game against Alabama and Saban for 2012, on top of our Big Ten schedule which is tough every year.
To me, this is a sign that Brandon really thinks RR's gonna have things rolling soon, otherwise he wouldn't open M up to such national exposure only to get wrecked in front of the whole nation. It looks like he thinks the team is going to get very good, good enough to show off on the national stage.
Just a thought, on that note, get pumped for M-Bama...
UConn- With RR knowing this team and beating them down every time at WVU, this shouldn't be a problem, I say we get the W.
@ND- Brian Kelly is coming in with a new QB and a lost star WR. He should be focusing on recruiting more than this season, we get the W.
UMass- Easy team, no doubt, W.
BGSU- If this was Toledo, we wouldnt have a problem, we had nobody really in 2008 to work with Toledo, and BGSU reminds me of Toledo, W.
@Indiana- Depending on last years performance, and the guys we got this year with the growth of Forcier and Roundtree, Indiana should be a challenge, but we get the W.
MSU- Comforting, isn't it? We should get MSU done this year if we don't mess up like last year, if everything goes right, we get the W.
Iowa- I'm not so sure about this one, sure we lost last year by a Denard pick, but Robinson is more accurate, and Iowa having a previously hurt QB Stanzi, he could have a problem. But I just can't be so sure about this one, W.
@PSU-They don't have a QB, their defense is softer. We should get something on them, but I think we're going to lose by a few points. L.
Illinois- We should of gotten them done last year, but this year, we WILL get them done. W.
@Purdue- Lost in '08 and '09 by late mistakes, since Valentin and their star WR is gone, we should get the W.
Wisconsin- '08 was great when we beat them, but they have a better RB and a better QB. I'm going with the L here guys, Wisconsin will beat us by taking advantage of mistakes.
@OSU- Our defense should know Pryor's plan by now, but we're not going to beat them like that, we need an offense that will drive and drive, in '08 we didn't do that because our QB's had no experience. In '09 we didn't do that because Forcier threw to many ints.
We will beat Ohio State.
Final record: 10-2
I didn't know what to expect when I saw this headline....Suffice to say, it's weird, idiotic and funny at the same time.
I figured I would let everyone know at 11:30 am on ESPN U they are going to show Michigan vs USC in the 2007 Rose Bowl.
Get to Henne, Hart, Breaston along with others. Even though it was a lost it will be cool to watch all of them again.
