Back when I first started visiting this site, not a post could go by without someone asking for a "Baxter update." it was everywhere and this was when tomvh was still around and tim s. it might have been em0 or king of belch, but whoever it was it was my first exposure to an MGoMeme.
Anyhoo, the subject of the update, Dillon Baxter was a 5* rb who flirted with going blue but ended up at USC. He then left there after this past season, surfaced at SDSU and has now left, according to the tweeters. Of no real consequence here, just saying goodbye to a meme. Goodbye :(
Brent Schrotenboer (@Schrotenboer) 2/29/12 7:09 PM San Deiego State has dismissed Dillon Baxter from the team, less than 2 months since he transferred from USC
I figured this would be the easiest way to compile a list of potential inagural class candidates. The 190 comment thread would be a difficult place to keep track, so here we can be a little more organized. Make suggestions and I'll add them to the lists. Since this is just a way to keep track of potential candidates, feel free to throw out some "maybes." Mods, feel free to edit the OP accordingly.
This may also help keep that initial thread focused on the manner in which people are elected, etc. Without further adieu...

Now that Molk and Martin are done with the NFL Combine, it's time for them to look ahead to what's next. Before that though, here's a summary of how they did at the combine (numbers are from the NFL's site):
|40-yd dash||Bench press reps||Vertical jump||Broad jump||3 cone||20-yd shuttle||60-yd shuttle|
|Martin||4.88 (16th)||36 (t-3rd)||33.5" (14th)||113" (16th)||7.19 (t-15th)||4.25 (t-6th)||?|
|Hemingway||4.53 (19th)||21 (t-2nd)||35.5" (22nd)||124" (t-8th)||6.59 (1st)||3.98 (t-1st)||11.16 (t-2nd)|
(Martin's ranks are for all defensive linemen; he ranked in the top 5 among DTs for every category; Hemingway's ranks are for all WRs). Here's an awesome picture of Martin (via ESPN/Brian Spurlock):
For some reason, they only have Molk's bench press reps listed. Did he not participate in the speed/agility drills? (EDIT: I forgot about his injured foot. As noted below, he did not participate in any of the running/jumping drills. I edited the table above accordingly).
Michael Rothstein did a nice recap of Martin's performance over at WN, including his specific ranks among DTs for each event (LINK). In that article, Rothstein mentions that UM will hold a Pro Day in March. What typically takes place at that? Are Martin and Molk the only ones who will be able to attend, since they were the only ones invited to the combine, or will other guys be able to participate in that (RVB, Koger, etc.)?
Didn't see this up here, and the title says it all, but a couple enjoyable tidbits from the ESPN/Ann Arbor News post:
In an interview with AnnArbor.com, the Rimington Trophy winner says it's "pretty stupid" to think any other center should be drafted ahead of him, including Wisconsin's Peter Konz and Ohio State's Mike Brewster.
Molk also doesn't believe that Ohio State's Brewster, a four-year starter and 2010 All-American, should be drafted higher than him. "He is nowhere near me as a player," he said of Brewster.

Happy Leap Day to MGoBlog!
Just wanted to make a quick announcement regarding MGoProfile, which I previously said would run monthly during the offseason. Well, yeah, about that...
In truth, it was Alex Kozan's fault. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
Actually, both the honoree and myself have had a lot going on lately and agreed to just push it back a week or so rather than throw together something less successful. In short it just means we'll probably have a delayed profile for the beginning of March and another at the end of the month.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming of bball, hockey and the most insanely proactive recruiting effort since 2011.
