chance of bowl: 13.6%
can't help but think we're going to price some sparties out of this one.
sure, we have our walmart wolverine foot soldiers (yes, they do exist. walk outside of the student section. they are hilarious to watch when they get into it with opposing fans.) making a decent buck flipping them, but I like the matchup between Michigan grad vs. a state grad in open market pricing.
I'm guessing 80/20 divide.
As per Rivals, this upcoming Friday. No press conference. No frills. Just going to text his decision to coaches that recruited him. Would be one hell of a coup for us. Hopefully he brings HaHa here with him. Both would be starters next year. Imagine Denard with Dee Hart in the spread offense? Nightmarish for opposing defenses....enough dreaming until Friday.
Saturday was my virgin voyage to East Lansing and Spartan Stadium for football. I was given two tickets in row 11 on the 45. Even though it was difficult to not be in front of the UM game I was texted constantly by friends with updates.
While driving down Harrison the traffic was stopped while someone had his dog in the middle of the road shitting.
While on campus hiking to the game I witnessed 6 humans vomiting in public(at noon), 2 fistfights, and a woman who had entered the men's bathroom and was straddling the urinal while pissing.
The men's bathrooms had an ENTER and EXIT sign but state fans were entering both locations leaving a flow of tangled bodies going both ways inside.
At halftime when everyone is trying to get somewhere (bathrooms, vendors) the entire stadium comes to a crawl. There is NOT enough room for the fans to even move but an inch at a time. I finally gave up on this more sooner than later.
More vomiting later in the men's room. At least they made it that far. We left around the end of the 3rd quarter. What a difference in venues. I don't know if I have ever witnessed a goat fuck like this before.
I don't know if I have ever seen more snaggle toothed stump farmers in my life.
Needless to say I will be GLAD to return to the Big House this weekend. Enjoying the tailgate and watching us skull waste Sparty knowing full well that after my visit to E Lansing I realized there is a distinct possibility that Darwin was correct.
Hopefully no one has started something similar, but this is the place for your Spartan hate mail. Any stories about why you can't stand the green and white or their mascot or their ever changing tradition.
Half of my family (roughly) are Spartan fans. I have no problem with any of my family regarding fandom. The rivalry only gets as intense as teasing, plus I can't blame them since they live near Lansing and some have/are working for MSU. Unfortunately almost all of the non-family MSU fans I know are the exact opposite. It's gotten much worse since Dantonio came to town. Before, MSU fans just rooted against Michigan. Now they have a sense of entitlement. It's gotten to the point where I can't wear my M gear (at least half of my wardrobe which I wear religiously, even when times have been down) without running into some sort of unprovoked conflict.
At least Buckeyes have their own state. I'm sick of stupid arguments over our unethical coach, our quiet stadium, the fact that we only win because of our quarterback, etc. I normally wouldn't promote harsh language at all (I don't judge), but I seriously hope the Wolverines beat the shit out of Sparty on Saturday. Win by any means, but please Rich, don't miss out on any opportunities to run it up as classy as possible.
Please share your own Sparty hate stories below.
Normally, Mark May is unbearable to listen to because of his constant and prevalent bias against Michigan. However, has anyone else noticed that he seems to be very pro-Michigan and pro-Denard lately? Or is it just me? If I recall correctly, I think he even got into a mild argument with Lou Holtz about how good Denard has been and how he deserves the Heisman if the voting were today. Of course, Lou was getting all agitated and fired off a bunch of words in which I could only make out "Cam Newton", but seeing Mark May actually defend a Michigan player seemed very odd.
First of all, let us all hold hands for a second and bask in the glory of a 5-0 start....
Okay, now that that's done, I wanted to comment on the amazing time my friends and I had in Bloomington yesterday. Apart from the douchey student section cheering Denard's injury (ARRRRRGH, STILL PISSED), the people at IU were friendly to us. Sure, we got the usual jeers from IU students (if I heard "Ann Arbor is a whore" once, I heard it 100 times), but it was very tame compared to Columbus (assumed) and East Lansing (experienced).
At one point, we were actually welcomed into an IU tailgate, given beer and food, and even invited to kick some IU student ass in flip cup (which we did). To be honest, we were actually treated worse by some MSU fans we ran into IN BLOOMINGTON than we were by any of the IU faithful.
Then, after an amazing tailgate, my friend and I were even further impressed by the maturity of (most of) the IU fans in the general seats. They were courteous and kind, and didn't throw any objects or verbal obscenities our way, even when we were at our "worst" (mostly cheering right behind their head on 3rd downs).
My point here is, the students may be douchey, but the overall fans were very kind and welcoming to opposing fans. I highly recommend a trip to IU in the future to anyone who may be considering going. IU is (mostly) classy. Go Blue!
