Tennessee is not recruiting well just because they got 18 dudes
This is your open thread for Nebraska's first Big 10 game and any other action you care to watch.
I'm off to re-read the Eleven Warriors LiveBlog. Buckeye tears have been so rare for so long that we shouldn't pass up any opportunity to enjoy them. Combined highlights for both teams included 7 of 30 3rd down conversions, 106 total rushing yards, 3 turnovers, 17 points, and 16 punts. Both teams have good defenses, but ugh, what a mess.
A couple people touched on it earlier but I'm almost ashamed of how excited i am about the DG wishbone formation. I think that Al borges was just testing it out to see if the concept was even plausible. Even though it had mixed results i think this was very vanilla version of what we could see moving forward. I wholly expect to see more and more of this in the future. There are two main reasons for this. First, there are so many possibilities. Having two athletic quarterbacks on the field just gives so many options (speaking of which think of a DG to denard option play). Second, this allows DG to get more game experience and its not going to be just scrub time. It puts DG on the field under pressure without distrupting our offense. DG is just too good of an athlete to be riding the pine for the next season and a half. Here's to innovation and terrified D coordinators.
This has basically been a snoozefest up to this point. tSio looks pathetic and Michigan State still likes to try to take themselves out of the game with foolish penalties and turnovers at the worst time. BJ Cunningham is definitely a freakish receiver ... he really uses his size well. William Gholston is playing much better this game, but acts like a fool when he makes big plays ... talking trash in opponents faces and pointing. I wouldn't be real excited if I were rooting for either of these teams.
It seems to me like tSio is giving up on the season by giving the reigns to Braxton Miller. He shows his freshman instincts .. and is too quick to try running. His passes are off target and wobbly. Bauserman gives tSio the best opportunity to win, but apparently Fickell is willing to trade wins for the experience his young QB is getting.
Rooting for OSU against Nebraska and MSU is the effect of being in separate divisions. It's painful. I hate that the Big Ten has diminished the rivalry while upping the MSU and creating the Nebraska rivalry.
Minnesota might've been the worst team we played all year...but the execution and playcalling on both sides of the ball was DAMN GOOD.
I will be watching Ohio vs. Sparty on ABC (ESPN), but you can find a full listing of games here:
Nice to win by a lot. And give up no points. I feel relaxed
