"What (Michigan coaches) told me is that they're focusing on point guards right now, but if anything opens up, they'll definitely come back on and recruit me as hard as they were," said Towns
This is not a CC post. I don't want any dicussion about what the decision will be, but I have heard Brian be pretty sure that we'll know by Jan 2nd and I have heard that same thought echoed by most everyone else.
My question is that if this is true how will Brandon not come off looking like a complete liar?
It would be hard to sell he did a complete program evaluation, did an exhaustive coaching search and then hammered out the contract in 15-20hrs. Even if Brandon has his guy, I would think he would at least bring in other candidates or talk to other candidates to give the impression of doing an exhaustive search to find the right person.
I think he won't say a thing until a few days after and if he is making a change he will have seperate press sonferences several days apart. Maybe Jan 5th-15th I think is a more likely time frame depending on what he does. Brandon has been all about upholding Michigan's image and saying he is sticking to his word so it would seem unlikely to me he comes out on the 2nd with a backroom deal that would go against what he has said..
What do you think? Am I off base here.
John Bacon, who you may know wrote "Bo's Lasting Lessons," has a nice takedown of the recent B10 decisions on logo, conference names, and trophy's. I didn't get into his midwest rube theme, but the rest was good IMO. I liked this:
"After cleverly naming the divisions for nothing and nobody, they created 18 trophies, and named them after everybody. That's right. If you ever played or coached Big Ten football, or know of someone who did, chances are good you're one of the 36 legends — or leaders? I can't recall — honored on these awards. Two per trophy. This ensures every conference school has several hundred former players on some hardware somewhere."
Chris Balas from Rivals has stated that Martavious is running with team, but is still wearing the red jersey. Not expected to play, but a good sign for him moving forward.
Also Balas mentioned that WR Jeremy Gallon has been playing a bit of QB with the read option and that he is good at it. Balas is not saying he will see extensive action there, but it's a wrinkle they could bring out at some point.
Did anyone else catch Sam Webb saying he had a gut feeling on a def player today? Any guess of who it may be?
Nice article in the Det News on Ciullo. He has only played one game in his career, but inspires the rest of the guys. A great example of a terrific kid that and the kind that doesn't get mentioned enough.
