What are they doing playing at Northern Illinois?
Why would you schedule a home and home with a MAC school?
So I had the chance to watch the game from the field today. It was my first time watching a game at the Big House from the field and I'll have to say that it was pretty awesome. This is actually my third game of photographing from the field and I'll have to say that it a little tougher than I expected. It was alot more crowded on the field at the Big House than it is at Rynearson (duh) so it was a little tougher to be where I wanted. All in all, I had a blast though.
Anyway, these are my pre-game pictures. I have to go meet a friend, so I will post the game pics later. Enjoy.
The man needs to be the every down back. He has the best vision by far and is competent in blitz pickup. He has the respect of his team and seems to have finally fully recovered from his knee injury from OSU freshman year.
Not to knock Fitz and Shaw but Smith needs more touches.
It appeared the coaches are warming up to this idea. Manball in the past has included the Morris boys which are not exactly typical RB's.
12 carries for 132 yds...........not to mention his awesome screen last week for TD
Much as he dislikes it, Al Borges actually calls a pretty mean Zone Read Spread. And it looks like a true Zone Read Option Spread, not just Denard running from the shotgun.
We have a coach who can call the Zone Read Spread, we have one of the best Spread QB's in the nation, we have waterbug-quick Vincent Smith, excellent Slot receivers, good downfield blocking outside receivers, and an agile O Line. This team is built to run the spread and can run it well. That's not going to change real soon.
And this is a problem?
Big Al, nobody says you have to die a Zone Read Spread coach. But perhaps maybe you could live with it for a couple of years?
7 true freshman played today, with (IIRC) R. Taylor and Rawls got their first snaps of the year
