"He makes it really easy on you as a coach because he has tremendous football instincts," Michigan tight ends coach Jay Harbaugh said. "Things come really naturally to him. He doesn't have to see things too many times. He has a good sense for how things should look and feel, and he's a tough, physical guy."

The Sun-Times is reporting that Dan Persa left the NU/Illinois game, limping, at 13:38 of the 4th Quarter after getting sacked and getting hit on the back of his right foot (same leg with repaired Achilles). Coach Fitzgerald said holding Persa out was "precautionary". Kain Coulter finished the game at quarterback.
"I got hit when I was rolling out, and I felt some pain in the bottom of my heel and the top of my Achilles started to stiffen up, and in the past that's when setbacks have happened" Persa said.
Additionally, Mike Trumpy went down with an injured left knee in the second half. Coach Fitzgerald said Trumpy might have a sprained knee, but the injury will have to be re-evaluated. Trumpy left the game early in the third quarter and was taken off the field in a golf cart. He finished with 63 yards on 12 carries.
Kind of a shame for Persa. He's pretty dynamic when healthy but Coulter is no slouch. If this game is truly a sell-out (it's being reported as such), it should be a blast.
Is anyone else watching the late games out West? Oregon St. @ ASU on comcast is channel 724 and the Stanford game is on 707. Devils are up 8 with 4 minutes to play in the third and Stanford taking care of business.
Lloyd Brady was all over the place today. I conservatively put him at a full 12 appearances, easily identifiable by the electric blue Under-Armorish longsleeve under this maize shirt. As far as I'm aware, this represents a career day for Brady. Even my girlfriend is now able to spot him in a crowd shot. But on a day like this, some clouds need to be found in the silver linings. Legitimate questions, I believe, need to be asked. Hard questions to ask about an icon, but that's what I do. I ask the tough questions others won't, like "Grape Nuts, WTF?"
1. To what extent is LB's performance simply the product of playing Minnesota? Should we take today with a grain of salt, and reserve judgment on what kind of a season he's having until we play Sparty and the tougher opponents?
2. We've had five games at home. LB cemented himself in MGoBlog lore after stealing a long solo shot (looking sad) during the McGloin Rampage at Happy Valley last year. So, queston the second: do we need to see LB step up his performance on the road this year?
3. Question the third: is overexposure bad for a celebrity like LB? Great numbers today, but I admit, after about the 4-5th shot, I stopped saying "it's Lloyd Brady! Drink!" and let the girlfriend take over. She stopped after about 4 more sightings. After that, I started saying, "hey, I think that tall dude is Facepalm Guy! Drink!"
Kept getting confused watching other BIG games today when announcers said "Denard" and it was not UM out there. Turns out we will see Darqueze Dennard for MSU in two weeks, then Alphonzo Dennard for Nebraska in November. Heads up!
Loved how Herbie called Wisco out for their weak OOC schedule at the end of their game tonite, synching with board posts here earlier this week.
MSU always seems to somehow schedule their bye week before the Michigan game, eh?
