to play football, not to play trumpet
With three of the recruiting services releasing their initial rankings and over half the Big Ten now possessing at least one commit, it's time to debut to Big Ten Recruiting Rankings for the class of 2013. I give you zero guesses about who is number one. Congratulations. You somehow won anyway.
ESPN is not included for now since they haven't released anything beyond their Watch List and an unsorted top 100 that they don't link or acknowledge anywhere else on the site, including individual player pages.
|Big Ten+ Recruiting Class Rankings|
|Rank||School||# Commits||Rivals Avg||Scout Avg||24/7 Avg||Avg Avg^|
^The average of the average rankings of the three recruiting services (aka the previous four columns). The figure is calculated based on the raw numbers and then rounded, so the numbers above may not average out exactly.
NOTE: Unranked recruits are counted as one-star players. This may be a bit unfair this early in the process, considering there are many unevaluated recruits out there at this stage, but that's life.
On to the full data, after the jump.
Some of these are not Michigan updates, but interesting none the less.
-Robert Nkemdice (#1 prospect in the nation) is playing one hell of a hand of poker right now. It's rare in the SEC, that you get a recruit that no one can get a great read on. But the surprising thing with Robert, is he has legit interest in Ole Miss, and it doesn't seem to be "recruit speak". At the end of the day, I think he stays in Georgia, but again, I can't get a read on the situation, and that's purely speculation.
-Ty Isaac will actually be staying in Ann Arbor all weekend this weekend. That is a very good sign for Ty. If you remember, I had been saying earlier this week, that a lot of the recruiting people on the SEC boards, said expect him to come off the board soon. Ty himself has said he's not nearing a decision, but wanting to stay in Ann Arbor the entire weekend, is a good sign for Michigan. Stay tuned.
-Robert Foster, WR out of PA, and his Father are a tad confused by Urban Meyer apparently. There have been mixed signals by the Buckeye staff to both Laquon Treadwell, and Robert, for who is #1 WR target of their targets.
-Ruben Foster (#2 over all LB out of GA) commit to Alabama, is the best linebacker recruit in a decade according to talent evaluators who have watched him play. His future is probably on the inside, and is getting compared to Patrick Willis. Georgia is going full court on him right now, but there doesn't seem to be any worry on Alabama's part concerning his verbal.
If you guys like this, I'll be happy to post more recruiting updates from around the country. I didn't provide many this time, because I wasn't sure if anyone was interested.
Since there wasn't much video available on Patrick Kugler when he committed, I held off on giving any TTB Rating. Now that a twelve-minute highlight film appeared on the internet, I decided to devote this week's scouting report to Kugler. Overall, I think he's a very good prospect who reminds me of the mauling linemen of the 1990's/early 2000's at Michigan. I don't think we've seen a center like him for many years; Molk is a very good player, but a different type of lineman.

Given that we've almost wrapped up the 2013 class - I'll start maintaining the 2014 offer board
This has been derived from the 2013 offer board, so credit to wlubd for creating the template.
PA LB Alex Analone will not visit UM this weekend, was reportedly told by the coaches that they are full at linebacker. Sounds like the Coaches are pretty confident in the guys they are already recruiting.
