no wonder we hired Hunter Lochmann
Of course I'm biased in my desire here but I'd sure like to see the San Francisco 49ers versus the New England Patriots in the upcoming Super Bowl. Just imagine the positive impact this may have on recruiting high school athletes around the country as they tune in to the constant buildup of sports talk high-lighting the obvious common bond between Tom Brady and Jim Harbaugh. If this comes to pass I envision a bombardment of discussion contrasting the two former Michigan quarterbacks - their records and accomplishments at Michigan, life styles, personal ambitions, and NFL careers. Wow! This could be a cavalcade of prime time publicity for Michigan football. This is why I'm pulling for second place finishes for the Giants and Ravens today.
It appears that Michigan has thrown its hat into the race for 2013 recruit Su 'a Cravens a 6'2 210 pound safety from out of Murrietta CA. Cravens, who is a five star prospect (according to rivals), runs a 4.5 40 and is considered an elite safety who could also project as an outside linebacker at the next level. Cravens scored 19 total touchdowns on offense and collected 96 tackles, 11 sacks and three interceptions on defense to earn a spot on both the ESPNHS All-American second team and the ESPNHS Underclass All-American team . Already he has offers from top programs all across the country including USC, Stanford, Arkansas, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. Florida, Nebraska and Michigan are the latest to offer.
Here is a link to an interview with Cravens by ESPN espn.go.com/blog/high-school/football/post/_/id/4465/get-familiar-top-2013-talent-sua-cravens
This is the only highlight tape I could find here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFyvqpfokR0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
This kid is a big deal and with USC and Oklahoma being the early front runners (according to 24/7sports), this will likely be a an uphill battle for Michigan but with Hoke's west coast recruiting pedigree and Greg Mattison's defensive resume, I would say Michigan has as good a chance as any in landing this top prospect.
So the Onion has some pretty funny images called strong side, weak side about athletes. I figured on a slow Sunday before our boy Tom goes for 7 TDs to break his own record, I would skim through these images and post the Michigan related ones. Please visit The Onion if you like these, so I feel less unbeveled guilt about bogarting their images..
Surprised this hasn't been posted, but the East-West Shrine Game is on the NFL Network right now. Currently at halftime the East leads 17-14.
Representing Michigan on the West team are Kevin Koger (#86) and Junior Hemingway (#82). So far Koger has 1 catch for 8 yards.
Hey guys, I was fortunate enough to catch up with Nick Stauskas this week and among other things, discussed the reactions of his fellow Canadians when he left to play in the United States: Nick Stauskas
