I thought we could use a little humor on a Friday. Here's a funny Yahoo! Sports story for you. Free agent to be LaRon Landry has apparently been hitting the weights pretty hard during his injury rehab. I like the fake letter to his suitors. While he is crazy big for a SAFETY, I still don't think he can take "Hulk" from our man Martin.
"Also, I wear gloves while using the restroom."
Thought I'd pass this along to you guys, I saw it while browsing Maxpreps. Good luck to you guys, I love his tape, and I'd honestly not read or heard much about him. Upon further review, it looks like he committed to ND after the first night game at Michigan. Being Catholic myself (I know, a Catholic southerner) I can appreciate his position. The debate between he and Pocic is a good one, they are both very similar players. I love Elmer's strength, and his technique. That kid could come in and compete for playing time from summer camp on. I don't think Kelly's offense suits Elmer's obvious strengths, so I could see Michigan landing him.
By the way, this is one of those kids that when he says "Academics are important", where you actually believe him. While he may have gotten a plethora of other offers, I think the SEC would've stayed away. Besides Ole Miss that is, and to be honest, Ole Miss is actually a damn good school academically.
Because I hate myself to the point of masochism and don't always have bamboo shivs to ram under my fingernails, I sometimes listen to 97.1 The Fan in Columbus. The evening host, Adam Neft, was talking about a tweet from the O-zone beat writer. In it, the O-zone guy claims that Brady Hoke brought up Urban's arrest record, as a response to the now infamous snackademic sign at the Woody Hayes Center.
The contents of the relevant tweets:
I did not hear this directly, but it came from someone on our board who was in attendance this morning.
That was Hoke speaking at the Detroit Athletic Club this morning when asked about Ohio State's poster comparing college majors to UM
Brady Hoke on Meyer: "We dont recruit negatively, I'm not going to mention 30 felonies in 5 years that happened in his previous program."
So, this is all secondhand at best. It doesn't sound like something Hoke would say out loud to the media, but who knows. It'll be interesting to see if it's true and if this bit makes the rounds in Columbus, where they still think - let's see if I can quote them directly on this - Jabbe the cHoke negatively recruited kyle kACLis to scUM /rabblerabblecoolerpoopers
So, I just can't get my mind around having 12 recruits already committed. This is completely unreal, and hard to fathom. That means we only have room for 10 or 11 more recruits in the 2013 class. Almost a year away til signing day. Unbelievable. Tremendous.
Having looked at Ace's "Hello" posts, and the interest from potential recruits still out there, I'm trying to think through how they match up. Magnus & Aquaman already put together a list of who they'd most like to see come to Michigan. There's no point in replicating the work they've already done. However, a corollary list would be remaining needs, and reasonable likelihood of coming to Michigan. Here's a list to start. I'd like to know three things:
- What needs are missing below?
- Who on the list below is unlikely to come to Michigan?
- Who has an offer in an area where we no longer have need. (for example, are we all set at TE, or would we still make room, say, for Breneman?)
Obviously, being a Michigan homer, I want just 5 star and four star recruits. But I also want a sense of who "realistically" might come to Michigan, and who would best fit the needs at Michigan.
Nebraska made changes to their future schedules, adding South Alabama in 2015 and 2019, BYU in 2015, and, most importantly, Idaho State in 2012, completing their football schedule.
Nebraska was the only team left in the Big Ten to have not filled out their schedule.
