"It's not about last year or who's here or who's isn't here," says your head coach. "It's about getting out here and competing and seeing who is here, and that's where we're gonna go."
Finally, after months and weeks of speculation the Temple Owls have joined the Big East. The invitation is for football next season and all sports in 2013. Total cost to join was $6 million payable to the MAC (split 50/50 with Big East) and $1 million to the Atlantic 10.
Temple should be immediately competive in Big East football having beaten AQ teams UConn and Maryland soundly in each of the past two seasons. Temple did narrowly lose to Penn State last year at home.
It is in basketball, in 2013, where marked change is coming as Temple should add significantly more depth to what is already a scary conference. The recruiting advantage that Villanova has enjoyed in Philadelphia should end immediately; it will be interesting to see what becomes of Villanova without the Big East variable. Attendance at the Liacouras Centre will certainly improve with the likes of Georgetown, Notre Dame, Marquette, Louisville, Seton Hall etc. visiting (as opposed to A10 stalwarts St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis etc.
Overall, a good move for Temple and a win for the Big East. The Big East has added a competive football program capable of competing with AQ teams from larger conferences and a basketball team capable of competing with anyone. The big losers in all of this: a) the ACC who accepted two crap football teams in Syracuse/Pittsburgh in order to improve their basketball; b) Villanova.
So I just got the invite to officiate at the IMG 7on7 again this year. I have been looking at the web site and could not find a list of teams yet...it is a little early.
When I find a list I will send it out. If anyone knows of teams with MI recruits, let me know. I will watch for them.
From 2011..the championship game with Shane Morris.
At :50, look for the impressive 6'1" 250lbs former LB at the Back Judge position..that is JakeinVenice FL, I know awesome!
[EDIT] Not OT as MI recruits will be in attendance.
9 Texas commits in the top 100
4 Michigan, 4 OSU, 5 Alabama.
Thomas, Morris, Kugler are 5 stars.
Dukes, Taco, Lewis, Dawson and Hill are three stars.
The rest are 4 stars.
Many do not like Huge, but it is a pretty good interview with Al Borges. Interesting that in the early stages of the interview Al admits they should have been a little more spread focused in the early stages of the year.
Although they are looking for Pro Style QB's in the future they would certainly look at a guy like Denard if they seem to be as talented as him (good luck with that).
Also, Braylon Edwards little brother Berkely has not recieved an offer yet. I hear Braylon is upset...
The title says it all. It would be huge to have Best back for the full year next year and hopefully they can use him in a Sproles type role so he isn't taking as many hits. His speed and catching ability is to big of an asset to not have on the field. If he has any more setbacks I fear it will result in early retirement.
