maybe i should have had greg howard write the brandon obit.
Most of us knew that he was battling mono, but the reports were that he was playing through it (as he did against Brother Rice). Today Kyle Meinke reports (via a Freep Article) that Shane Morris's coach is pessimistic regarding Morris's ability to play for the rest of his senior season. Per his coach
“He won’t play this week," De La Salle coach Paul Verska told the Free Press, “and really, I’m not counting on him coming back the rest of the year."
Tough break for the future Wolverine, but assuming his bout with mono is as rough as most this seems like the right decision for his long-term health and career. A tough break after he put so much effort into getting ready for the season and all the 7-on-7s.
Here's to hoping his coach is wrong, and Shane M. makes a speedier-than-expected recovery.
So, did some ND fan hack mgo.licio.us and post a bunch of Catholic/Christian posts?
I'm sure you don't need anything extra to pump you up for the Mich/ND game this Saturday, but the link above is a pretty good read from ESPN. Here are a couple quotes:
Brandon: One of the moving parts was the whole Michigan Football Legend ceremony and taking number 21 and putting a patch on it. Junior was going to run out of the locker room with the patch, and we're going to do the video to honor Desmond. I'm standing there and we're playing the video, and I look over at Desmond and there are tears running down his face. I walked to the sideline and the sun was setting and the lights were on and things were starting to twinkle in the stadium and every seat in that stadium was full.
Robinson: I was shocked. I was like, 'We just drove the ball with 30 seconds left.' That's when I jumped into Taylor [Lewan]'s hands and was like, 'Oh my God, this is crazy! This is one of the biggest games, craziest games I've ever played!'
Nebraska LB Zaire Anderson tore his ACL and is out for the season. He was one of Nebraska's highly touted JUCOs and was supposed to fill the void at LB after Lavonte David graduated. This coupled with sudden departure of DT Chase Rome raises some question marks for the Huskers on defense.
