Reading Retro Blue on Maize & Brew and came across this film from the International Bowl.
I already had high hopes for Funchess and now even more so after this very impressive film.
As many know former FBI Agent Greg Stejskal comes and talks to the team each year, warning them of the many dangers out there for players, gambling primarily. Entering his 30th year doing it for the team he's written a brief article about his experiences with the coaches over the years.
Plus he has a killer last line quote of John Wayne he uses. (Or is that the "Fightin' John Waynes"...?)
Police scanner: Ambulance crews responded to Schembechler Hall minutes ago for a report of a football player with a spinal injury.
Thoughts and prayers
Injured player was freshman DL Ondre Pipkins. Had movement of extremities was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons.
The FCS has expanded its playoff format. I know it is all about the money in FBS, but it still seems to make so much sense to actually have a playoff.
EDIT: For reference the DivII and III tournaments let in 20 teams currently. The top 4 teams get a buy in the first round.
So a few years ago, I found these playing cardsin a local Ann Arbor store:
Naturally I had to have a couple packs. It has M greats from all era's; pre-Yost to Braylon. As they were sitting on my shelf, I thought about what to do with them, and decided I'd like to get the entire pack framed in a huge case someday, and that it would be really cool to get some autographed. So I found as much contact info as I could about guys who are alive, mostly in NFL, and mailed cards out. Here is what I got back:
The Harbaugh card is my most prized, as he was my hero as a little kid learning about Michigan Football......but the best response I got was from John Navarre, who actually wrote me a letter in return. At this time, he is in his first or second year with the Arizona Cardinals:
"could you send me some more of these cards or possibly the whole deck. my wife loves them"
I bought another pack and sent if off to him.
Desmond Howard, Jon Jansen, Charles Woodson, Chris Perry, Brian Griese, Braylon Edwards, Ty Law, Tom Brady(but their PR person sent a packet of Patriots stuff)
