August 29 Kickoff Dinner -- Speakers to include Brian
This hasn't been posted yet, has it?
Celebrate the opening of Michigan Football's 132nd season and kick off the Brady Hoke era with the University of Michigan Club of Greater Detroit!
On Monday, August 29, the club will present the annual Football Kickoff Dinner at Park Place Catering in Dearborn, located at 23400 Park Street, near Michigan Avenue and Outer Drive.
You're invited to wear your maize and blue as we prepare for each game of the 2011 season; from the season opener versus Western Michigan through the home finale against "that school in Ohio," as Coach Hoke has so routinely called Michigan's greatest rival since his first day back in Ann Arbor.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails, wine, and a club favorite, Ann Arbor's own Wolverine Beer! The evening will continue with dinner at 6, followed by the speaking program and drawings at approximately 7:30.
Guest speakers scheduled to attend include: Detroit News beat reporter Angelique Chengelis and columnist Bob Wojnowski, two of Detroit's long-standing and most reliable voices on the University of Michigan and Detroit sporting scenes; Brian Cook, the owner and primary editor of the immensely popular MGoBlog.com, the Web's go-to home for Michigan athletics analysis; and Greg Dooley, who, as the editor of MVictors.com, brings a leading historical perspective to Michigan's generations of athletics tradition.
The four speakers will discuss their outlooks for the 2011 season, answer questions from the club, and provide their analysis for where Michigan has been and where Michigan can go.

Keeping Michigan Secrets
I have to say that I was rather shocked to hear the news of K. Jones not being part of the team the last couple of days. While we knew T. Jones and Pace were injured hearing they were done and that Talbott was soon to follow was rather jarring as well.
My question to the Mgocommunity is that how is any of this a shock in the age of facebook, twitter etc? I follow this blog religously and my friend keeps me updated from Scout. How does this stay secret as much as these guys are stalked? I come on here and find out guys are tracking the movements of 16yr olds, but among thousands of students/insiders/staff members/beat writers/teammates etc. we can't figure out a current student can barely walk and will never play again? A guy is kicked off the team and info and rumors are all over the place with nothing concrete.
I'm not asking people to pry further into these kids lives, but I'm just shocked things are able to stay quiet in this day and age and wonder if other people are as surprised. Seems like guys would have this posted much faster. If you saw C. Pace in class and asked him how it is going with rehab and he said he was done. I would imagine that guy would have it posted asap and everyone would know that within hours. I don't even really understand why Hoke doesn't get that info out himself( I understand why maybe the K. Jones situation would not be handled) but why not say that guys are put on medical redshirt?. Why the secrecy surrounding that?
OT: Start of training camp?
Sorry, tried to get this question answered on MLive but they were too busy throwing flaming marshmallows at 9 year-old MSU trolls.
Simple question: When does the men's FB team open training camp, and are there ever any open scrimmages?
Thanks!
Tailgate Tents/ Shades
I'm in the market for a new durable, easy set-up Michigan tent/ shade for tailgating. Obvioulsy there are several options online, but wanted to get some opinions on what works for others. I know that the EZ-up's are nice, but I haven't found any of that particular brand with the "M" logo.
Also, is there anyone out there that has this sideline shade? Is it big enough to walk under, or is it more for sitting?http://www.tailgaterzone.com/michigan-wolverines-sideline-shade.html
