I'VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF YOU SONNY
Week after week it is amazing that coaches don't understand math. If you weren't watching the mess that was PSU vs Ill here was the scenario.
Ill up 7-3. PSU has the ball at the 7yd line 1st and goal with 1:20 left. Both teams have all their time outs. Instead of PSU letting the clock wind down to run their plays they immediately call time out on 2 consecutive run plays so PSU scores with 1:06 to go allowing Illinois to go down the field and kick a fg to tie. It missed so no one will care but this is a truly stupid move. Knowing Zook like we do he probably would have just let time waste away, but even if Zook came out of his coma to make sound coaching moves at least you force him to use 2 time outs.
So Paterno(or whoever is in charge of letting him know there is a game on) moves Dantonio out of moron coach the day.
Dantonio was not nearly as bad, but huddling down 3 scores late in the 4th is not maximizing your chances of victory.
Minnesota beats our next opponent Iowa 22-21 to end the quest of being the worst B1G team ever.
Henry Poggi was at the game today, and that is a huge visit for Michigan. He keeps his visits really quiet, so looks like not everyone knew about it. This guys offer list is going to get huge, and it is already impressive. I think it's scary that I have friends that recognized him at the game, and can barely remember their wives birthdays. Really puts life into perspectie for you.....
We were hearing all week that more freshmen were going to play in this game. We will learn more about how they did when Brian does his UFR, but I was pleased with what I saw out of them.
Countess got the start for the first time. We pretty much already knew what to expect with him after the last few games, but he certainly didn't dissapoint. He just always seems to be in the right place. Dare I say he is the best corner back out there for us right now? Not sure if they are just going away from him, but teams seem to be picking on Floyd more.
Not sure how much of this is Purdue's Offensive Line, but Frank Clark looked like an absolute beast out there today. He seemed to be in the back field on every play and he appeared to be taking great angles to not let the QB outside.
Desmond Morgan also impressed me. He too seemed to keep contain better then previous players at his position and at least appeared to be more aggressive at attacking the ball.
I saw Brennen Beyer out there quite a bit, but I didn't "feel" him to quote a term from Hoke. Cant say rather he did well or poorly.
These were all just observations I had with limited angles from the TV broadcast, I look forward to seeing Brian's UFR to see how well they all actually did.
What do you think? Did anyone see anything differently, or were there any players I missed?
I suppose the announcers got their info from the Penn State athletic dept. It would have just been too painful to store information about the beatdown.
