that is nice bonus change
As the recruiting sky is falling for some, AA.com talked to some of our recruits, as well as Allen Trieu who has spoken with recruits not even committed to Michigan, and they universally say Michigan is doing it the right way. They're not using bad situations at other schools to taint recruits views, and are promoting Michigan. Quotes not only from Trieu, but Wormley, Darboh (and his guardian), and one from Pipkins that the "Hoke touching kids" crowd will love.
So remember, we may not be getting every one, but we're doing it the right way.
I'm guessing people aren't too keen on hearing about more recruiting right now, but just in case you want to be reminded that Michigan's class is actually really good, I joined Jeff Junstrom of Black Shoe Diaries (Penn State) and Alex Gleitman of Eleven Warriors (Ohio State) for a recruiting podcast. We talk about the strengths of each team's 2012 class, how the classes should wrap up, and take a look ahead to some of the key prospects in the 2013 class. It's posted on BSD today, though it was recorded on Saturday, so a couple predictions are no longer relevant (I'm now quite proud of myself for abstaining from a Reeves prediction). Hope you enjoy, and keep an eye out for more of these in the future—despite our differences in loyalty, it was great talking to these guys, and we're looking to turn this into a regular deal.
Remember, if you are feeling depressed about this class—and you shouldn't—remind yourself that at least we aren't Penn State right now. You'll feel a lot better.
The Tampa Bay Times recently surveyed all of the I-A college football programs, asking the question whether or not there should be a football recruiting period similar to how college basketball is.
86% of the respondents said that they were in favor of having one. This would mean that recruits could sign a LOI before the Feb 1 signing day if they so chose.
What do you all think of this idea? Here is the link:
I woke up and realized that we have 28 slots for 2012, with 23 verbal commits and 4 target left (Diamond/Grant/Muller/Henry). Assign each target a possibility factor:
- Diamond: 0.6
- Grant: 0.6
- Muller: 0.5
- Henry: 0.75
That gives us 2.45 commits. From what I learned on "Super Sunday", I will take 2 out of the 4.
Are we going to bank 3 schollies, or we just rub more snake oil to commits of Purdues? Who else is a realistic target?

Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller WR Monty Madaris has committed to#MichiganState
There had been some speculation that we might be going for Madaris, but this honestly doesn't seem too unexpected. Good get for Sparty, they have a fairly solid WR class coming in this year.
And the rough few days of recruiting news rolls on. Hopefully we still can get a commit or two tonight.
