This is maaaaybe premature there, ESPN. Maryland #1 FWIW.
looks like mitch leidner will be the man for jerry kill.
It's being reported that, of a record of about 90 underclassmen who declared for the NFL draft, only 4 are from the B1G. Shazier and Roby, PSU's Robinson, and someone from Indiana.
To me, that says: B1G players got their draft status reports back, and most of them sucked (looking at you, Braxton), so they all went back to school.
This speaks of the gulf between the Ess-Ee-See and B1G, doesn't it? The NFL isn't salivating to get our players.
Per his high school coach, 2015 OLB/S Tyriq Thompson of Detroit MLK has been offered. He's a 3-star to Rivals, #29 at his position, and #10 in the state of Michigan for 2015.
MSU had already offered and was presumed the favorite since UM hadn't offered, but this could change things. Steve Wiltfong from 247 had a tweet insinuating that Thompson may have been ready to commit elsewhere (read: MSU) had this offer not come through. Has offers from Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, NU, Wisconsing, Pitt, and NC St, among others.
His dad, Clarence Thompson, played football at UM in the mid-90's and was All-Conference in 1995. That should make many of you feel really old.
I'm sort of interested in where some people in the Michigan blogosphere have started/ended up in recent years. There was recently a discussion on the Marlon Mack post about The M Block potentially shutting down because Brandon Brown is here at MGoBlog and Eric just went to Maize 'n' Brew. For example...
I beleve Tom Van Haaren got his start at MGoBlog, did his URecruit thing on the side, and then got picked up by Wolverine Nation/ESPN.
Brandon Brown started off at The M Block and moved here to MGoBlog.
Steve Lorenz started at Tremendous and moved to 247 Sports.
Ace started off at The Wolverine Blog and moved to MGoBlog.
Tim Sullivan started at Varsity Blue, moved to MGoBlog, and now works for The Wolverine.
Any corrections/additions to the list?
Jim Caldwell moved quickly on assembling is staff, as it appears he has brought on Baltimore Ravens defensive backs coach Teryl Austin to take over as the defensive coordinator for the Lions. This is being reported by the Baltmore Sun and NBCSports, but the Lions have stated they will not provide an official announcement tonight. Austin seems to be a good hire as he has done a great job with the defensive backs in Baltimore.
The big question to be answered next is who will be the offensive coordinator?
An idea was sparked in the minds of the marketing gurus at Omaha Steaks when Peyton Manning barked "Omaha" over 40 times in the Bronco victory over the Chargers.
Apparently, the gurus may be willing to pay to hear "Omaha Steaks" instead.
Personally, I'm hoping Hooters can fill the ad space.
Wing Right...36-26-36...Hooters...set Hut!
Hoo would you like to see Peyton endorse?
