We jumped 36 spots today to #35 on 247 Composite. Not bad for 14 players and no effective recruiting for 3 months (Oct, Nov, Dec)
Florida the only real comparable jumped 46 spots to #20 today but has 21 recruits. The two 5 stars they landed helped. They had room for another 6 more slots I believe (27 total), we had room for 1 more. They had a coach who at least could sell a future in October and hired new coach first week of December so really only had a 1 month blackout window (November) of recruiting - we had 3.
All in all a victory - was shooting for low 30s with 15-16 commits a month ago; we got to mid 30s with 14.
That's 2 guys in 5 minutes.
Was just reading highlights from the WVU signing day presser. The coach said initial thinking is Ferns will play FB and TE, but they have a year to figure it out.
I found it interesting he was switching to offense, since he as a highly touted LB.
OK - go back to following our recruits, not ones that have left us.
Deontay Burnett accepted a blueshirt offer from USC. Really strange recruitment. I also have a hard time believing a kid with other major scholarship offers would accept a blueshirt from a private school. He is probably going to have to pay at least one semester to one year of private school tuition out of his pocket (assuming the recruitment is not dirty and his family is actually paying for it).
Just when you think the SCerra pipeline can't get stronger, WR Deontay Burnett takes a blueshirt offer from #USC, will count for '16 class— Greg Biggins (@GregBiggins) February 4, 2015
Strange one here - all we heard after his visit was he was quite disinterested. FSU is getting a major class with 5 stars dripping out of every pore so maybe he sees the near immediate playing time in 2016.
20 minutes out no need to hold back...won't affect things at this point. barring a Weber-like change of heart I think Michigan gets Johnson.— Sam Webb (@SamWebb77) February 4, 2015
The curse of unlimited potential and how it didn't quite pay off for Drew Henson.
Although, it did remind me that in addition to winning a game in Columbus, with 18TD/4INT his junior year, he has gotten a hit for the New York Yankees and thrown a TD pass for the Dallas Cowboys. That's not a shabby payoff at all. Most importantly, he seems to be in a good place in his life.
